Toyota badged products seem to use touchscreens, while Lexus badged products seem to use remote touch.

I see it has a 115” wheelbase compared to the 4GS & 3GS’s 112” wheelbase. It seems the GS has been selling well in its domestic market, chipping away at the sales of the Crown so much that Toyota have decided to only offer the Mark 15 Crown in one guise similar to the Mark 14 Crown Athlete instead of three different guises. With this cannibalization going on I see big things happening with the 5th gen GS for Japan and hopefully the States as well. I also see the aluminum front strut towers have trickled down from the LS as well. I have a feeling Lexus will skip the 2019 MY of the GS and just go straight to the 2020.

I think that will be Lexus' plan for the 5th Gen GS too - 5th Gen GS will come out as 2020 MY.

I like that it is a rear wheel drive vehicle.

My dealer (who is also a personal friend) told me they will be producing the current 4GS for 2019 in very limited quantity.

I would like this direction too, especially since the 2GS and 3GS already had the curved look towards four-door coupe styling.

If the interior ends up being anything like the LS, the 5GS could be really interesting. I know it's a love hate thing, but the 18 LS interior reminds me of a luxury yacht! Bringing back the V8 would make it even more interesting.

This part may be a deal breaker for me. Not much into that look at all, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

This would make sense for them financially. If you look at sales at the tail-end of any cycle for the GS, it trails-off significantly. Lexus knows based on history that the current body style GS is getting long in the tooth and it won't overproduce it if the market isn't demanding 10's of thousands for a car that is likely in its last year before a complete overhaul.

If the Toyota Crown still exists, it doesn't mean the GS will still exist - but at least we know the sister-platform is still around making the 5GS debut a real possibility.

It's kind of ironic you say this though, because the new 2019 ES is basically a gigantic ripoff of the current 4GS body style, minus the RWD hump influence inside the car.

I don't think there's any way that Lexus is going to roll out a new GS that looks anything like that, lest they create an identity crisis.

I personally think the GS will eventually come back; either as a whole reroll by itself (say with a TT V6 like the LS500) or at least, as a reroll of the GS-F.

Of course part of the problems these days is as a market segment Sedans/Coupes/Cabrio/convertibles etc is quickly becoming hot garbage because of all the people buying scads of mostly boring SUVs. . this means that Lexus now has to play the sedan game with a much smaller pool of buyers than it used to have. Of course this can be a good and a bad thing- the good outcome is that Sedans4Life types like myself would pay a little more for a GS replacement down the road if they made something that was "worth the stretch". They really need to make an AWD F-car that costs less than 80 grand and makes like at least 400 WHP. That could easily be done with the motor that they're putting in the LS500... maybe with a little tuning. Of course I could be all washed up and they are really just trying to push us into LS500's.... but the price tag is a
bit much.

No reason to speculate, the 5GS is not happening. The 5th generation GS was being developed under the 300B programme. It was confirmed already that 300B programme was canceled by Lexus earlier this year.
Which sort of explains why we have not seen any test mules of the 5GS by now, especially when the 5th generation or 300B model was scheduled to enter production in April of 2019.
Supposedly, the new ES will now take the GS spot in the lineup.
