Default Oil Filter Wrench

Time to buy a new wrench. Which one would you prefer? Both look like quality wrenches.

$16 one. Why spend $30 on it when the $16 one will work?

Good point, but I ended up getting the $30 for a couple reasons.

1) It's a 1/2" drive wrench and 24mm bolt, I prefer it over the $16 dollar's 3/8" and 27mm bolt.
2) It is easier for a strap/swivel wrench to wrap around it.

Hopefully it lasts a good while, reviews seem to indicate that. Then again, it's an oil filter wrench lol.

I just did an oil change. The very last thing I needed was a strap wrench. Quite literally - easy pulls on the 3/8 drive and it was unscrewed.

If you have an O Reilly’s in your area you could’ve picked one up for about $6. Found one there when I got my 14 RX. Wrench is the same for my GS.

I would always buy the cheapest one that fits and doesn't break. The more expensive one (Motivx) has several reviews that show other brands break down. Not sure if this is common.

Btw, what's the torque number for the oil filter cap?

Which is probably pretty close to 'hand tighten'. I always used hand tighten with the old fashioned filters, made sure I could get them off again later, sometimes without a wrench.
