I was doing some maintenance work today and while changing the air cleaner I found an unwelcome guest in the air box. Needless to say he was a bit dehydrated. Scared the heck out of me until I realized that it was not alive!

Not sure how it got in there but I wonder if it was there since I purchased the car. This is the first time I changed the air filter.

A couple of years ago, my wife had a live one in her RX350. I looked in the car and saw him staring back at me, sitting on the brake pedal. I bashed him with a broom, and the Lexus store cleaned up the odor producing droppings. Ough!

That's a critical engine component and contributes about 1MP to your car. Hopefully Lexus will replace it under warranty.

On a serious note, it's actually quite easy to get in to the air box. The top part of your picture is a duct that leads to the front of the car, just behind the grille to suck in cold air. The mice doesn't actually look that dry either considering the amount of air flowing through your air box, also, look at all the paw prints on the left side wall of the air box, if it had been there for sometime, those would've been covered in dust. I'd bet this happened fairly recently.

It also looks like he chewed on the upper left edge of the box where you can see what appears to be teeth marks. I'm guessing it was a very rare port and polishing mouse that Lexus let slip out of the factory.

No, no, no you guys have it all wrong, you have stumbled on to one of Lexus's test engines. it's their secret new engine that runs on mouse power instead of horse power.

That's all too funny! KnukleBus I didn't even notice that he chewed that one little section in the air box. I need to take a second look at that.

LMAO.... this reminds me of the family that got into my Buick Regal GS.

I had a stench that kept coming into the car every time I put the AC on.... had no idea what it was, then after some detective work I figured it had to be in the air system.... the CAF in the Regal GS is in a stupid place... well, needless to say, when I took the assembly apart near the wipers I found a friggan mouse nest in there, and some of the kids were dead... vaced that out and cleaned it up, but it drove me nuts because it took me like 4 days to find the damn source of the smell!
