Doesn't seem worth it imo since it's only 4 more years (8 years/98k miles total) and costs $3319 + $100 deductible. Is this for a Lexus warranty or 3rd party?

While I don't think you can get the the CPO Platinum extended warranty on your existing car, as a data point, I paid $3175 to extend for 5 years/unlimited miles. A bit higher than what I could've gotten it for, but got my car for a steal ($29k for a CPO AWD 2014 with a few option packages and ~32k miles on it, 100% on time dealer maintained, new tires, brakes, etc back in November 2016)

I bought my 2014 GS350 in 11/2016 with ~33k miles. My Lexus platinum warranty is valid through 12/24/2024. Had my car just about 16 months and have ~66k miles on it. After my experience with my Acura, I did not want any repair surprises!

I bought the Lexus Platinum warranty with my L-Certified 15 GS F Sport along with the prepaid maintenance program. I'm now covered through 4/2024 with no mileage limitation on the warranty and normal driving service intervals are covered through 85K. All of this for $3800 which I thought it was a good deal. Then again, I'm a former owner of a 2003 LX470 that had 211K miles on it. Although it was very reliable and hardly needed repairs, when something did break it was always a thousand or two dollars or more, easy. Dwayne4Lex, I think they can sweeten that price a bit.

Here is some info about the car - my current mileage is 31,000 and I have until the end of 2019 before the manufacturers warranty expires. Do the numbers below make sense? Or should I keep shopping around? I plan on keeping these car for a VERY long time.

^^^^^
Doesn't that 2017 still have almost all of the original 4yr factory warranty left? So that $1500 is just extending it out for 2 more years?

That's the way I see it too. $1,515.00 for an additional 2 Yrs/30K miles. Chances are minuscule that people who buy this extra coverage will ever need it, and only a very few will have issues that exceed the premium paid...thus the eagerness that Lexus has to sell the coverage.

Very true, Lexus isn't losing money on these additional warranties. As I said above, I bought an additional 3yr/75000 Lexus warranty for just under 2k. My 2014 has given me 4years/34000 miles of trouble free driving. I just bought mine for peace of mind since I'm planning on keeping it 2-3 more years. I would have probably been better off money-wise to have put that 2k in a savings account instead.

My point was I did get a much better deal for the extended warranty that I wanted and the price I got beat out the local dealer significantly. So to not have to worry about it, however miniscule the chances I will need it, It's worth it to me to be covered for the 6 years I planned on having this vehicle. I also didn't really need to have PPF put on my GS but then I also don't have to worry about salt rock or pebble spray when I'm on the road

The basic Lexus warranty is for 4 years/50k miles (ref. http://www.lexus.com/warranty). As I understand, one can purchase an extended warranty from Lexus at any time before the basic warranty is over. So it seems the best time to purchase an extended warranty is towards the end of the basic warranty and not any time sooner, and certainly not along with a new car purchase. However, many of you seem to be purchasing your extended warranties much before the basic warranty ends. Why?

My 2015 GS-350 AWD had 16K miles on it when I bought it certified. This gave me a 4 year unlimited mileage warranty. I bought an additional 2 years so I am good until April 2022. I paid $375 for the Platinum for the additional 2 years. The first 3 weeks I put on 10K miles. Right now the car has 45K miles. It will be one year later this month. I drive for work. Having the unlimited mileage warranty when I hit 200K miles will be nice. This year was light driving. I regularly drive 60K miles a year.

10k miles in 3 weeks, that's a lot of driving! I sure hope your company is compensating you nicely for having to put that kind of wear and tear on your car.

Yep - 0.545/mile. It goes it to fund just for car. Generally gas and tolls are about 0.12/mile. The balance goes into car fund to pay for maintenance, tires, repairs, etc. That is one reason for a Lexus - high reliability and comfortable ride.
