Bluetooth Battle - Anyone Have The Answer?
So every time I get in the car it’s a coin toss as to whether or not the Infotainment will a) play my music from my phone, B) show the music in my phone on the display even though the sound is coming from my iPhone, or C) only play the music from my phone if I reboot the phone after I’m well under way on my drive.
Anyone have the answer? I’ve already deleted and added the phone to the car’s Bluetooth device list to see if that would fix it.

What music app are you using? As a rule, I've noticed that you must have at least "one song" downloaded onto your phone via Itunes or Apple Music. Once you've done that, all music apps should work.

I've actually been looking for an answer to this too, I initially thought that it was because I switch back and forth from Radio to Bluetooth was the reason why the infotainment system wouldn't show the metadata and have no media controls, but that wasn't the case. Since, this morning I did the exact thing, and was still able to see metadata and have controls.
I've tried turning on Spotify before I entered the car, waited for the phone to connect to the car in hopes that the metadata would show up, but it was just on that bluetooth connected screen or whatever it is, the music works but I have to manually skip tracks on my phone.
The only way I've found around this was to go to turn off bluetooth on my phone and turn it back on again and resync it to the car by selecting "Connect Device"

Mine has never done this. It always starts with whatever I left off with. This makes me think there's a setting somewhere, either in the car or the phone.

If you're using anything through the Lexus Enform App Suite, it can be a bit trying because it requires to be logged in to that first.
That said, maybe have whomever your phone maker is (assuming iPhone?) or whoever to have your phone checked. Sometimes there are kernel programs that aren't doing their job or are hung up for whatever reason and just need to be corrected.
