Default End of Lease... What to do?

So here I am again; the lease on my 2015 GS AWD FSport (perfect condition, 11k miles) is nearly up and I have no idea what I want to do. Frankly, there is nothing out there that really excites me right now. I was in the same spot at the end of my lease last time with my 2013 GS AWD FSport so I merely opted for the current gen, 2015 GS FSport. At this point, I think I will just hang on to my 2015 and wait for something I really want to buy, but I'd like some help with my options to do this based on this group's experiences and knowledge.

The residual is about $36k and I think that is more than it is worth (KBB says $30k). Is the dealer likely to negotiate the price of my car? I've heard some people say this is never negotiated, but I'd like to hear your opinion. I suppose I could just turn it in, wait for them to put it on their lot, then negotiate the price.

One thing I can tell you is that if that car is in great shape, they're going to CPO that car and put it on the lot for like 38+ grand... so I doubt you'd save any money by waiting.

Leased a 2014 and was seriously considering buying it out right at the residual value of $40,900. This was way above what the car was worth. I tried negotiating with the great folks at Lexus Financial Services and the dealership and got nowhere. So, I went another route and purchased a brand new leftover 2015 in January 2016. Got $15k off the price of the car so I got a brand new car for only $7k more than the residual value on the 2014. Best decision I made involving a car in years. The dealership sent the 2014 to auction when I turned it in.

There is no better luxury/performance sedan than the GS350 F Sport. Buy your car. If you don’t, you will probably regret it once you’re in something else. .

Get a 2017...

I was ultimately going to ride out my lease but got a 3 month waiver from Lexus which I might take up on them and get 2017 for $200 less a month.

Do you like the looks of the 2017 spindle? I much prefer mine...with the center section painted to match the dark grey of the upper and lower grills.

How about the cleared out look of the new tail light assembly? I don’t like either of these “refreshes” better than my ‘14. I’d keep the one he’s got, if I were him.

i prefer exterior of my 15 but small interior upgrades on the refresh is nicer. I felt like seats are softer, gauges are nice, BSM, ML, power trunk are all standard on f sport

On my 18 F Sport the power trunk is a $400 option.

definitely something I wish my ‘14 F had. Standard on cars like Accords.

Sorry I meant that whenever they build a "regular" F sport from factory, 9/10 it will have power trunk "standard" even though you are paying for it.

If they don't negotiate turn it in and get your 15 F-sport from another dealership. The '15 GS F-Sports are NOT $38K today.

Yeah def. not.

Lexus lost A LOT of money thinking the car will be worth in the 40s but boy are they wrong. It is worth 35K TOPS for a fully loaded, low mileage 15'. Lexus quoted me 28K for my 15 F sport AWD as trade in but my buy out will be $35-$36K. Still have a few months left on my lease.
