Default Decent deal on 15 GS?

When traveling for work, I stopped by a Lexus dealership last night, and test drove a GS350 F Sport (20K Miles, Mark Levinson Sound, New front brakes and tires, L Certified) for 38,500 OTD.

Not a bad price IMO. Is it worth it to you? That's really all that matters. At most the difference between the majority of deals and absolute steals is a couple grand. If that's putting you over the edge of having or not having the car you can't afford it anyway when you are talking about buying a car for 30k+.

For reference I bought an L-certified 2014 f sport without ML and 26k (also with new brakes and tires) miles for 35 OTD in September. so your price seems very reasonable.

Thanks for your reference point re your purchase. I have been researching this car for a while, and came close to pulling the trigger on a deal on a trade in gem in AZ in November but missed out by one day. This one appears to be kept in great shape. FWIW - the dealer originally had it listed for 41k.

It needed brakes at 20k?

What kind of tires did they put on?
Just curious....

Sounds a little on the high side for a 15 but it does only have 20k miles (which is excellent). I might try and work it down a little bit and I'll bet they meet you somewhere closer to 35-36. Lcpo and all, sounds good.

Bridgestone Potenza's
Re: Brakes - I was asking about that as well, as I know someone who owns this same model (and has 45k miles on his), and he said he has yet to replace his front brakes.

Definitely looks like a good deal. I picked up a CPO '14 F Sport with 33k miles for $37k out the door in June 2017 (NYC area).

Welp. I wouldn't have put Potenzas back on but hey, if they spent the $ for them (which is part of the asking price for sure). The performance use vs their longevity just isn't worth it. Many a tire thread if you are interested in options that lat into the 40k mileage.

I'd still be inquisitive about the brakes. Could be something easy like they were just broken or what have you.

If it's the right fit, I'd go for it.

Sounds good. I too am surprised by the tires and brakes. I have a 15 F Sport with almost 16k miles on it. The tires (Michelin Primacy MXM4) still look new and the brakes have barely any wear on them, but it's nice to start off fresh.

Could be that whoever had it was too hard on the brakes. I get many years out of brakes just because I allow myself plenty of time to slow down. Last minute stops due to driving style can wear brakes quicker. Had a family member who always kept her foot on the brake and gas at the same time who always wore them out prematurely. You never really know the driving style of a car previously owned.

Re: brakes, the dealer might have just changed the pads and resurfaced the rotors as part of their L certification. That's what mine did. I asked specifically and they said the pads had about 50% life and the rotors were fine, but they did it to allow me to start off fresh with the vehicle. For me they put on continental extreme contacts and I've been happy with the tires so far. I have no idea about tread life on these but then again I didn't really pay for them.

I would bet anything that the brakes were fine but squealed like a pig, so they probably worked the rotors over and put new pads on it....

If this is RWD, price is a tad high, but all depends on the local market.... My 15 CPO with similar features was about 38K and I had 11,500 miles (and AWD).... but, like I said, depends on the market, and depends on if it has the color combo you want and how hard it is to find, etc.

It was RWD and I just didn't feel comfortable with the brakes answer they gave me. They probably didn't care because they ended up selling the car (probably for more than I was gonna pay)

Why don't you just buy my 2015 F-Sport? Excellent condition and still has 11 months factory warranty and an additional 2 years CPO. Although no cold weather package or AWD. 38,800 miles and all records. Great price!! I just bought the GS-F. I hope I didn't get into any trouble with the Forum Administrator with this plug. PM me if you're interested.
Thank you,

My lease is coming up and you can have it for $35K (buyout) with 27K miles and F-Sport AWD

I already have few mods to it so you don't need to worry.
-Front Lip
-Lowering Springs
-Tints
- Front upper sway bar
