Default Have a 2013 - opportunity to get 2014 F-Sport (8-speed)

HI All

I has a 2013 GS350 with the 6-speed transmission but have the opportunity to trade in and get a 2014 F-Sport with less mileage

The issue is the transmission (have the 6, new car would have the 8). Anybody have experience on the relative trade here?

Thanks

Trading for how much? Is your '13 an F-sport also?

IMO, it's not worth trading just for the 6 speed for 8 speed. You better test drive it to see if you like it because I found the 8-speed "hunts" for gears much more than the 6-speed... fuel economy difference is negligible.

Another feature you gain in '14 are folding mirrors.

Unless you have known problems with your '13, I think there is always a risk to trade for a different car because you never know the full history behind it.

To me, there's not enough of a difference between the 2013 and 2014 to take a hit on the '13 when trading in toward a one year newer, same model car. Unless the '14 has all the options you want, i'd stick with the '13 because its likely they will low ball you on the trade-in.

To upgrade to the F Sport, possibly a color combo you like more, and lower miles, I say do what makes you happy. Life is short.

The difference on price is cUS$7k but I think the major trade is the F_Sport suspension vs having to take the 8 speed with it

If its a nice car in good condition then I say go for it. 7K is no big deal and you know deep down you are going to be happier knowing you have the F sport in your driveway.

7k is no big deal? That's exactly why so many people are in debt! Keep the 2013 put the $7k in your pocket. You can upgrade your 2013 if you want.

Save your money and get the RR Supercharger kit... I bet that will put a much bigger smile on your face than AVS and folding mirrors on a 1 yr younger car...

For 7k, there are a lot of nice modifications you can make to your '13...you obviously won't be able to retofit power mirrors or the AVS, but you can get certainly get the F-Sport look: You'll definitely be able to this done for less than 7k.

Take a look at fellow member jwblakk - he converted his Lux package GS to have the f-sport look: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...e-for-now.html

why would anyone spend even a third of that to get the f sport “look”???

THAT is a waste of money if you ask me. At least with a real f sport he gets a newer vehicle with lower mileage and the AVS which is what he seems to really want...

Invest the $7k judiciously for your next nice car.

im not at all familiar with issues related to the 8 speed tranny. I love mine.

Get the F Sport, and don’t look back.

must be nice to have an extra $7k on minor differences. I have and idea! Maybe those that told you to spend your hard earned money will pitch in a grand each and help you get your 14 model!! It's quite humorous reading some of these post. My bet is that most of these folks are in debt with high car payments.
i have a 13 and the 6 speed is excellent and has been around for years so you have a great track record to lean on with that and plus you can't get AWD with the 8 speed (not sure if that matters to you).
If money is not an object, then go for it. It it is, use common sense and pocket the money and enjoy the awesome car you have.

I don't see the point, I rather have the 6 speed anyway. Save the money and supercharge it, add a apexi accel and then buy the 2017 style front bumper, I forgot who makes it but it lets you use the stock headlights but have the look.
