Default Extended Warranty before Manufacture warranty ends?

Hello,

First time posting here. I have a Lexus GS 350 2014, white with flaxen interior. It has the premium package as well as parking sensors and parking assist and had 36k miles when I picked it up. I know this question has probably been asked before, but I would like more input. I bought my Lexus back in May from a dealer that did not provide any type of extended warranty and it is NOT CPO. I was wondering if it was worth it to get an extended warranty for it right now before the manufacture warranty ends in a month or 2. I have not had any issues with the car and just got the 40K mile tune up for it (currently has 41k miles). Please let me know if you guys need any further information. TIA!

If you are thinking about purchasing a Lexus extended warranty (Lexus Financial) make sure purchase before it ends.
Lexus made a policy change last year, I totally disagree with it, and dont have time to go into long detail right now.
In short, they will no longer sell extended warranties to vehicles outside the original factory warranty time.
In other words if you want a Lexus extended warranty it has to be bought before the factory one runs out.
Regardless if that is a month early or a year. I had 3 conversations with Lexus financial regarding my 2013 Luxury which was a cpo car
I got put into a bad position because the people at my dealership (they are no longer there ) told me I did not need to buy a year early, was at 48,500 then with a year left on CPO.
Mine was under the 3 year 100,00 mile CPO ....now 6 year unlimited miles to best of my knowledge.
They said come back before this time next year and your good to go ...... wrong !! Came back in 11 months and at 62,000 ...... and got a bad surprise ... sorry cant sell you one.
You needed to have done it before 50,000 .... if purchased last year I would be covered until 8 years or 117,000 in my case. So no Lexus extended .... most irritated.
Hard to put the whole experience into words ....... I am 16yr. Lexus customer having had 4 Lexus through Lexus Financial including my present GS350, with perfect record and cash in hand and would not dot it.
Very irritated with their policy.

So now going with a Toyota extended.

Just passing it along.

It may be helpful since cars nowadays are tech savvy and replacing or fixing any tech will put you out hundreds of dollars

These cars are very reliable with few issues, don't really see the need to spend all that money on a extended warranty with this car. A extended warranty is a no brainer for a BMW, Audi, or Mercedes but not this car.

I was put in a similar spot with as MH6 a few days ago. I bought a 2014 GS350 F Sport with ML that was actually out of warranty at the dealer, but they let me buy an additional 2 years/24k miles for $2000. This is my 4th Lexus (IS300, RX300, RX350, and now GS350). Most things start breaking down after the 100k mark as what happened with my RX350. The AC condenser died at the 110k, radiator cracked at 120k, and the navigation started going wonky at 130k. With newer cars, if one major thing breaks, it is going to cost at least a grand each time. BMWs and Mercedes will start breaking down at the 60k mark. Random sensors frying and check engine lights all the time was my experience with a BMW 750i.

Yeah. I emailed Troy and Jerry already. They broke it down and gave me quotes, but they are no longer allowed to sell to out of state customers. I know there is a lot of technology in the Lexus so I am still debating if I should pay the extra money for extended warranty. I don't wanna be paying a few grand if something goes wrong. I can still purchase the warranty, but don't know which plan to get. It is hard since they are very reliable also.

You are paying a few grand for a extended warranty you may never use or something could possibly be denied. I would just save the money, it would be a very rare instance with a GS that you broke even with problems let alone actually exceeded it and it was worth it. It is not a BMW.

A good percentage of folks never worry about this because they either lease their cars or dont' keep their cars long enough to worry about extended warranties. However, I tend to agree that the GS is a very reliable car. In my 2GS, most of the more expensive problems started happening after 80k miles. I have only had one issue which was addressed under the powertrain warranty.

I think that if you plan to drive your car more than usual every year, then you should consider buying the extended warranty. Its more about your own personal peace of mind...I considered getting the extended warranty but then figured I could save that money up front now and if something happened to the car, I could use that same money saved to fix the problem.
