Sunroof clunk/rattle

Just got back from the dealer. We went on a "test ride" where a mechanic sits with you to observe the issue. Initially it wasn't making any rattling noise like it usually does, then after a 25 min drive, 2 blocks away from the dealer, the moonroof started to rattle. They are going to research it and get it fixed. Car should be ready early next week, will keep you guys updated.

Clunk Cause in my 2014
I have the same issue described in this thread. I found that the best way to recreate MY sound without driving is to sit in the car and put a hand on each side of the sunroof glass, then slightly shift it left to right. It makes the exact click/clunk sound I get when driving. When sunroof is open at all, the noise can't be reproduced manually or while driving.
Dealer trip is coming up.

Following up on my dealer visit, they replaced the main seal and it fixed my issue. I can't reproduce the sound any longer and no more sunroof noise over bumps anymore.
It's important to note that I only showed the service adviser how I was able to reproduce the noise while it was sitting still - we never road tested. There was never excess wind noise as the tech stated in the notes and I couldn't see that the seal was "deformed" from the outside of the car. If you can reproduce your noise doing what I outlined above, I would highly recommend looking into getting this seal replaced. https://www.lexuspartsnow.com/parts/...251-30100.html

So I had the wind noise and rattle also. They replaced the main seal around the glass and that fixed the issue for about a year. After a year, the roof started to tick when opening. They adjusted and lubricated the moon roof and that took care of that noise. After a week, the tick came back along with a thunk and slam when opening the moon roof. I took it back in and they said the tray/track was bent. They replaced the assembly, tray, cable, main seal and other parts. The job was a major repair and required the windshield and headliner to be removed. Everything is back together good and no squeaks, rattles, wind, thunk or slams... It actually opens and closes much smoother and easier than it ever has.
Luckily the repair was under CPO warranty because it was over $2,600.

The only annoying part is that they can't seem to hear the rattle and noise that I was hearing. This means I have to go in, take a drive with the shop foreman, and make sure he hears it. This kind of surprises me from the standpoint that they obviously know about this TSB for the 2013s, they know the seals are not great, so I would think it would be easy for them to listen for signs of the problem, and then make the claim to Lexus and start on the repair

Just picked up a pre-owned 2014 F Sport from Keyes Lexus last week, and sure enough I have wind noise and rattle on bumps - both from the moon roof. The car is at the dealer for a Due Bill from the sale of the car, and they're trying to hear the rattle and wind noise so they can fix both under the factory warranty. I'll let you know once I get it fixed....they might just do the seal and they might have to replace the whole assembly according to the service manager.

I will pay attention for the next 8,000 miles leading up to 50,000, and if it starts again I will push hard for the assembly replacement and/or the upgraded seal.
