Default Hurricane Harvey

No many how many warnings they've given people...this genius tries to drive through high water (and right in front of the local news cameras as a bonus).

And now there’s one less beautiful GS in the world...

Maybe he needed a new car and knew the resale value sucks (joking). Sad to see such a beauty wasted in water I hope the owner was safe.

He got out fine. It happened right in front of an on-scene reporter, who immediately asked if he could interview him. He declined.

It has been reported that well over 1 million vehicles have been destroyed by the flooding from Hurricane Harvey. I suspect there may be more than a handful of GS 350s in that number. Aside from the heartbreaking losses of people's homes and family treasures are the old collector cars that some people in the Houston area have that have now been destroyed.

I was finally able to get some gasoline today here in the Dallas area. There were only four pumps out of about forty that worked and they only had 87 octane regular gas available, which was okay because I had about 1/3 tank of 93 octane it will mix with. Most gas stations around here have been sold out since earlier in the week, and the stations that do get some gasoline deliveries have had 90+ minute waiting lines.

Was talking to a gas station owner friend and he said ppl are panicking which is causing this problem and there's no shortage of gas it's more of a supply and demand thing then anything else. I live in Plano and ppl are going crazy at the gas stations.

Same as "bread and milk" people here when it snows. It's absolutely astounding how dumb some people are. But then you look at stories like the OP, and just nod your head.

What model LG is that? Looks like a real picture haha.

Yes, Hurricane Harvey destroyed many cars of my friends from Ferrari, AMGs, Lexus, etc... Hopefully few can be salvaged!

I know you know quite a bit about this stuff and our car. I have a question for you. Others can chime in as well, what is the risk of running non premium on our car? The tank is getting lower and lower. Finding a gas station here with gas at this time is hard and all they have now is 87. The GS has been sitting in the garage most of the time for this reason.

I would want to believe it's demand/supply.

I would always recommend using premium grade gasoline, as does Lexus. However, under the current gasoline supply circumstances not all service stations even have a supply of gasoline, regardless of octane. It will not harm your engine to use 87 octane (regular grade) - and if you have some remaining premium grade gasoline in the tank, that's even better because it will mix and you'll have an octane a little higher than just 87 octane. When using 87 octane gasoline do not put the engine under anything close to full load - meaning heavy acceleration. Your engine will retard the ignition timing and the knock sensors will prevent pre-ignition and detonation damage. But, it's not something (using 87 octane gasoline) I would recommend doing on a continued basis...

I was finally able to fill-up with 93 octane premium grade gasoline last night (9-12-2017), two weeks after Hurricane Harvey caused all the havoc with gasoline and gasoline deliveries. Only 87 octane regular grade gasoline has been available throughout my travels in Dallas and the north suburbs around Plano.

plenty of premium gas available now. Bucees in Katy was selling it for $2.50/gallon. Most places still have regular at $2.40-2.50
