Default Apexi N1-X Axle-Back Drone

Been lurking for a while and finally decided to post about my exhaust experience. Picked up a 2015 CPO earlier this year and immediately ordered the Apexi N1-X axle-back along with a Lexon diffuser. After a 15 week wait, I got it installed. The setup looks great, but the drone is unbearable from 1750-2500rpm!

Just wondering how many others had the Apexi exhaust and decided the drone just wasn't worth it. I'll either go back to stock or go with Tanabe. Once I reach the 30 post requirement, you'll see my Apexi on sale for 1/2 price!

I hate it so much I did a bunch of research on eliminating the drone. I tried to get local shops to weld on a pair of side-branch resonators, but there's absolutely no room to squeeze in 33" pipes!

You can get the Tanabe from us seeing your local as well..

Might have a buyer for your Apexi!

Thanks Josh. I received interest from a few buyers last night. I'll let you know if the exhaust doesn't sell to them ($600 + shipping).

I'll contact you soon about the Tanabe. In stock?

Does Apexi make a catback version? I only ask because if your axle-back is already producing drone beyond the point of annoying, I wonder what the catback version would sound like!

I have the same issue. I've had many A'pex-i exhausts in multiple cars in the past (5 total). None of them had this issue. One was much much quieter than I had expected (original N1 system on a G35C). I would have thought they would have engineered this system for a luxury sport crowd instead of a exhaust for old school Hondas. Ended up buying the mid pipe too to see if it helps but it didn't. I just manually shift the car so i could keep it at a little higher RPMs. It just looks too good to go back to stock. I wish someone else could have a bolt in system with quad tips without hacking up a shiny new exhaust.

Thanks for the information George. I also considered getting the midpipe to see if it would help - you just saved me $1000! I agree with you that the burnt quad tips look really good. I get compliments daily. It would be a shame to go back to stock since I have the Lexon diffuser custom painted in atomic silver...

I have a similar issue.About a month ago I installed the Tanabe Axle-Back. While it is of excellent quality and a beautiful sound, I still get a bit of drone at certain rpms (70 - 75 mph and going uphill). I spoke with several muffler shops and the original installer, and they all agree that the system sounds great and not too loud. However, I would like to lower the drone by a mere db or two.I love the sound while accelerating and it appears to improve the throttle response a little (could just be my imagination). I'llkeep you posted on my endeavor.
