Noisy fuel pump GS350 2015
Hi All,
just bought a used GS350 2015 with very low millage and started to notice engine noise. At first I thought it was the valves but the dealer showed me it was the high pressure fuel pump and told me that nothing could be done to reduce the pinging noise when i'm at idle. I had a IS250 before and I could hardly hear the engine running.
Is there anything that can be done to reduce the noise which is not normal for such an high priced car ?
Thanks
Richard

It's almost certainly the direct fuel injection system that is making the noise you hear. Common with all engines that use DFI. I doubt seriously you have a problem. It's just something that you will have to get accustomed to hearing.

Thank you bclexus.
with what I've read, it would seem that the only solution is to install the passenger side fuel pump covers from a LS460 but that was for a 3rd generation GS350 (2008 to 2011), mine is a 2015, will that work?
Has anybody tried this, does it work?

What I've noticed is interesting is the level of intensity seems to vary between cars. My 2015 F-Sport you can hear it, but I don't consider it obnoxious at all, to me its just a purring engine noise that happens to make a little more noise than other cars but nothing I would
call even worth worrying about.

Try using a fuel injector cleaner like Royal Purple Max Clean which has lubricating properties and maybe that can decrease the sound a bit. I doubt it would but doesn't hurt trying.

hi guys,
thank you for your reply. My dealer told me it was my fuel pump, I went to another for a second opinion and he showed me that it wasn't the fuel pump but rather the injectors making most of the noise.
Not sure if Royal Purple Max Clean will do the job in reducing the noise but I'm prepared to try it to see if it will reduce the noise.

Try it out. You have nothing to lose but about $13.

Some fuel cleaners like Royal Purple Max Clean also have lubricating properties and there have been many instances where it has quieted the injectors down a bit.
