Default Replacement key questions

I lost one of the keys to my car. A toyota/lexus specialty shop near my house told me to buy the key from Lexus and they can program it for half the cost of the dealer. My question is, can I buy a key off ebay and have it re-programed?

Or is there a less expensive way to get this done than shelling out $400?

The new key fob needs to be virgin (never been programmed before) in order to program to your car. If you google youtube there some video for DIY but required some cable and Techstream software (less than $50).

The whole process shouldn't take less than 10 minutes and the new fob from online dealer cost around $150.

Be careful not to lose the other fob otherwise you'll have to tow it to a dealer for re-program the whole ECU (1K-2K job).

Good luck.
