Transmission/Revolution Speed Sensor?
Hi Club Lexus,
Quick question. My 2013 Lexus GS 350 just hit about 54,000 miles and my check engine light came on. My car now is shifting really roughly and wont shift past 4th gear so when I cruise at 70mph, I'm at 3.5k rpm. I went to O'Rilley's and did an OBD test and it came up with a P0717 code which states that the Input/Turbine speed sensor is out. I did some research and found the transmission/revolution speed sensor part for this car and am trying to install it. My question is where is the transmission speed sensors located on the GS350? Not sure where to start but I'm ready to fix this issue. From other post on this issue, other Lexus Cars (ES and RX) have the transmission speed sensors placed under the air filter (Probably because they share the same engine). Lexus dealers want 150 dollars to even diagnose the problem but i'm pretty sure it's just the speed sensors. Any help would be appreciated. I understand this is the 3rd Gen GS forums but since this seems to be a rather uncommon problem and 3rd and 4th gen GS share almost exactly the same powertrain, I figured I'd post here as well.
Thanks,

On a 3GS 6 speed you should find the Turbine speed sensor on the right hand side towards the front of the transmission. Obviously being a rear wheel drive, the engine and transmission are mounted longitudinally as opposed to the ES/RX. As such the transmission is directly below the shifter in the cabin.
Assuming the 4GS GS350 shares the same transmission I would look in the same place.
