Default Burnt Copper Calipers, crisis averted, something learned.

Painted my Calipers VHT burnt copper and used a 2 part clear coat with a hardener.

The crisis I had is, with the brake pads off I would start the car to turn the wheel to paint both sides of the front caliper. Well in doing so I stepped on the brake. Both rear pistons popped out over the course of turning the car on/off, it was still held on by the rubber dust seal around the piston. I was an idiot and didn't realize you could turn the wheel without starting the car. In any case my neighbor Jerry who's a retired mechanic helped me put the pistons back in. I have a Lexus GS 450h and your supposed to bleed the brakes using techstream(dealer software). Jerry didn't think it was necessary and bleed the brakes the conventional way starting from the rear passenger. Tested and the calipers don't leak and brakes work great. After doing this the non-techstream method, my ABS light, break light came on. Jerry just cleared the fault codes and they never came back. did a few restarts/drive and car does the system check every time, all is good. Now I have fresh brake fluid

Glad that it worked out.

Caliper looks great. I have exact same color on mine, too.

Can you post some side pics of the car from different distance and angle to show the painted calipers? Thanks.

I agree, What a great headline, thus click-bait. The op should work for Yahoo! because at least his/her story was of interest.
