rumored death of GS model
So it seems that the rumor of the death of the GS line is gaining more strength. Personally, I don't doubt that this rumor has some potential truth. Unfortunately though, if this rumor becomes fact, Lexus has nobody else to blame but themselves. All other car manufacturers that are competing in this segment are doing fine and for example in BMW's case, this segment is their most profitable on a per car sold basis. So what's wrong with the GS? Well in my opinion, Lexus just doesn't get it when it comes to generating interest and hype and want. They generally make very reliable cars that are priced right for the most part Unfortunately, they're just starting to add "Fun" as focus into their vehicles and it's still not quite up to what the competition is doing. Lexus is still trying to do it their way and it's working for them a little bit but not a lot. The GS has soldiered on for many years without much change except for a nip and tuck face and butt lift recently whereas the competition has done this and added updated engines with more power and various versions of the model. Even with the 4th gen GS first being sold as a 2013 model year, it feels like it was over a decade ago that it was released because it simply hasn't been given any love minus the nip/tick and GS-F.
Lexus really needs to do better and get in tune with what the American people want. The Lexus brand after all was created for the American people and the current GS in all of it's non-glory is not what we want. There is no need to kill the model. Just a complete rethink on how Lexus develops a model line throughout the years is really what Lexus needs.
Personally, I think this started when they killed the v-8. It might not have been a big seller but to kill will definitely be a no seller and sometime having a v-8 option and the bragging rights part of the cache of a luxury product. I mean, how many v-12's does BMW sell of the 7 series and in the S class Benz? Not very many and they might even be losing money on the development of those v-12 but I'm pretty sure they will always have a v-12 in their line up. Come on Lexus. Sometimes, having a model or engine option doesn't always have to translate to making a profit. You make enough money from your Camry, RX, ES, Corolla, Tacoma, 4Runner, and Highlander sales that you can afford to lose a little on these more specialized products to make something that get the heart going and build some desire for people to want to buy these cars.
I know Lexus is trying but trying isn't good enough when the market is super competitive. They need to focus and not try but do. The RC-F is a good try but one of the main problems is the weight. The GS-F is a good try but it's kind of lost as to where it belongs. The IS-F was killed. Why? It's in one of the most competitive segments with the 3 series and the F model brings people into the showroom and gets people excited. Stop trying and just do it already. Give us the cars we want and we'll buy them along with the GS.

GS plays in the same segment as the BMW 5-series and Mercedes E-class, whereas the Lexus LS is in the matching segment with the BMW 7 series and Mercedes S-class. The 5 Series and E-class do well in their market segment without a class v8.
Lexus is not the only one struggling to take market share away from the 5 series and E-class. Cadillac has been trying very hard here as well with no success.

Give us 500HP GS500 and 700+ HP GS F, it will be sold out before they even start production.
And forget the 4 cyl turbo crap, that's just making the GS look like a joke.
