Default Has anyone bent or damaged an OE wheel?

Hello all, new owner of a 14 GS350, with the basic 18" wheels.

The dealer I bought the car from offered me a Toyota/Lexus factory wheel and tire warranty with the car, and I was wondering if anyone has had problems with the wheels?

I ask as the wife and I have owned multiple BMW/Mini products over the past 12 years, and have come to be very familiar with the softer wheels that get damaged more easily in those cars. To be far, I did track one of the cars, all were shed with UHP Summer tires, and all were driven fairly aggressively - and I live in Fort Worth, TX where the roads are always in construction - but dealing with no less than 7 bent/damaged rims, and 8 or 10 damaged tires that resulted in tire warranty replacement or out of pocket early replacement, the offer did intrigue me.

The warranty also covers paint-less dent repair for door dings and hail, as well as windshield repairs.

I did verify they will cover refinished factory wheels, and tires bought elsewhere as well.

With that said, if this is a non issue, and I can just buy replacement certificates through my tire shop, its a waste of a dealer add-on, like most.

Its just that the BMW one paid off so very well, I am not sure about this one.

Thanks!

I've had my car since last June and have driven on suspect roads in Houston and Dallas and haven't seen any issues thus far. Once thing I will say is that I can clearly tell where one of my rims was repaired before I bought it. I have the wheel and tire package as well and if that's who fixed the rim before...I won't say they did stellar work. The paint where the damage was is darker than the rest of the (F sport) rim.

Yes I have... two bent rims and two ruined tires, all here in Dallas. One vicious pothole a couple of winters ago burst a tire and bent a rim. Both were covered under the wheel and tire warranty. Tire was replaced and the rim repaired. Then, I don't know how or when, experienced a ruined tire (bulge) and bent rim. Once again, the tire was replaced and the rim was repaired under the wheel and tire warranty. 2013 Lux with 18" OEM wheels. Not sure if money-wise the warranty made sense. But it was worth it for the peace of mind. Isn't that what warranties are all about?

I had damaged the front passenger wheel in a pot hole in Dallas area also, got it repaired and everything is back to normal. This is the stock 19" wheel we are talking abt here.
