Default Love my gs but now I'm having problems with it.

Hello
My name is Janet I'm new to the forum and I drive a 2015 Lexus GS350 F-sport and I love it, so far the car has been great but now it started developing a slow start every now and then, I took it to North side Lexus in Houston for a check up and of course they couldn't find or duplicate the problem the car is having. They said they tested the battery and it came back good, so any ideas would be helpful. Here my baby.

Hope you guys can hear it cranking for longer than the usual.

I don't know if I would consider that quite a "slow start" yet...but the issue is almost certainly the battery. Even if it isn't failing the load test, diminished cranking amps...a new battery will bring back the quick start.

BTW your GS is beautiful, best color for the GS IMHO.

since urs is 2015 you still under warranty, just bring it back to the dealer. if its slow crank might be the battery going bad, the dealer will test the battery and if its a bad battery they will replace it under warranty. just tell them do a battery test.

Even if it passes though, new battery, highest CCA you can get it'll fire right up again.

ask them to use the gr8 not the portable battery tester, the portable battery tester don't give out that much load as the gr8 when doing a load test. so the handheld will say its a good battery and the gr8 will say replace battery or recharge.

If the vehicle exhibits slow crank, no crank, or has other signs of depleted battery, proceed to the

GR8 Charging/Diagnostic menu to charge\test the battery. For more information, refer to Service

Agree with the others on the battery.

I have a 15 F Sport in Atomic Silver as well. Seeing yours makes me want to tint my windows.

If you don't want to go back to the Lexus dealer to confirm if it really is a weak battery, I suggest dropping by a NTB (National Tire & battery) store and they will gladly test your battery free-of-charge with a heavy load to determine whether your battery needs replacing or not. Then, if NTB determines the battery needs replacing, you will be armed with reputable confirmation when you go back to Lexus for your new battery...

Thanks for the fast replies. The battery is what I was thinking too. I'm not sure if they used the gr8 when I took it to the dealer but they kept it for 4 days over the weekend and said they tried several different things. I also cleaned the throttle body and air flow sensor and tightened one of the intake hoses. That seemed to help for about a week but it has started again. I will probably just buy a new battery on my own if it gets worse and see if that is the problem. Are there any specific ones that you would recommend?

Just buy the highest CCA in the proper size you can get.

I bought a handheld load tester when I used to have battery issues with my GX470. When I had slow start issues with my GX470 I was also told the battery was good. I did my own load test and saw that the battery tested as 'good' but was at the very lowest end of the 'good' range so I knew it was good but weak and was going to fail soon. Not more than a month later, the battery gave up the ghost and fell into the 'yellow' (weak/failing) range on my tester. I took it back in to the dealer and promptly got my new battery under warranty....
