LOL, of course no V8. 4cyl base optional 3.5 V6 as it's always been.

They're not going to stop using a V8 in the LS and put one in the Camry lol

I used to have a 2012 Camry V6 SE and when I bought my 2014 GS350, it didn't feel much faster.

Now I see why haha. Still love the car but wish it would have been a lot faster.

I thought the GS was a little slow on the pick when I hit the gas pedal in the beginning. After doing some research on the forum and reading what has worked best for faster acceleration, I can honestly say that I don't want to drive another car if it isn't mine. My car is a blast to drive and I love driving it on the highway.

I always had the notion that the GS was a quick car also, until I actually drove it flat out and realized it could be quicker. However, there are other factors of the car that make it an enjoyable experience to drive, especially as a daily driver which makes me look forward to driving every single time. Yes, it is a little embarrassing to tell everyone that 0-60 time is in the mid 5's considering the competition's 0-60 times, but cruising down the streets while the car is turning heads is a good feeling that far makes up for it.

It's a mass produced 4,000 lb 4-door luxury family sedan loaded with comfort options and accessories.

I think the new Camry will still use the old 2GR-FE engine. If so, then the power would be the same 268 hp / 248 lb-ft of torque.

I hope they can back up that look with better performance. The older Camry V6 was a sleeper, bland but fast. This new one looks very aggressive.

If 0-60 and 1/4 mile times are that important to you, I don't think the GS is the right car for you. When you consider everything this car offers in terms of luxury, comfort, amenities, performance and reliability, I think it's pretty impressive. Other cars may do some things better, but sacrifice others.

I think the new Camry will have new V6 engine similar with the new Highlander 290hp

Correct. It'll use the 2GR-FKS, expected to be around 295 hp in this application. Same engine as the 2016+ GS350.

To be fair, that's not really a great description of what the GS is, you're describing the LS more than the GS. The GS is a sport sedan, so some of the critiquing of its performance is valid. People would buy the GS because they are looking for a more spirited experience than they would get out of an ES or LS.

If I were complaining that my LS is no faster than a GS despite it having more power and a V8 (which is true) you'd have more of a point imho.

Has anyone here tried swapping out their differential carrier with the 2nd generation IS350 carrier? Those cars have a final drive ratio of 4.08 (compared to the 4th Gen GS350 final drive ratio of 3.769) and the 2nd Gen IS350 is capable of hitting 0-60 times in the mid-to-high 4s!

I didn't know the old IS350 was in the 4 sec. What about the new IS350? Is it the same as the GS (slower)? What went wrong here?

3rd generation IS350 is noticeably slower from 0-60 and 1/4 mile times when compared to the 2nd generation IS350. It's suspected that the transition from the six-speed to eight-speed transmission for the new IS350 made the gearing taller and therefore made the 3IS350 much slower off the line. The eight speed transmission was originally meant for the V8 Lexus vehicles and was perfectly suited towards those types of vehicles. Here's a thread on the 2IS vs 3IS 0-60 discussion:

Well the car consistently rated number 1 or 2 in the segment the GS competes in costs about $65- $70K when equipped like a GS, and has 0-60 time over 7 seconds - go check out the '17 Mercedes E300. If you want a dragster go get a Hellcat. If you want an appliance go get a Camry. All a matter of personal preference.

The GS really could have used a lot more power. The chassis could take a hell of alot more. Should have came with at least 350 HP.
