Do you have Comprehensive insurance coverage? If yes just pay the deductible and insurance will cover the rest. If your car has rain sensor the windshield is more expensive-- probably why you see difference price.

ya I got the comprehensive insurance, I don't know how to filed a broken windshield tho? do I just call and file a claim? when I look online for which windshield I need. I saw the one with rain sensor and everything e/o only $700. Part # 56101-30973.

Or you can get the windshield which is build for the Lexus cars without the lexus logo for around 250-300 with the rain sensor. Had similar situation on my Mercedes cls550.

Check your policy to see if it is covered. Then call the insurance with policy # and told them that your windsheild was cracked. Find a reputation shop, Make sure they change it with OE. You dont want any leak in the future.

I have a small crack on my windshield and the dealer filled up the crack. It's kind of annoying every time I see it. I might call my insurance to file a claim, I have comprehensive with $0 deductible. Do you guys know will my insurance goes up if I file a claim?

Windshield and front door windows have the water repellent coating.
Check with your insurance. Some states allow you to have the windshield replaced at no cost to you, as long as you have the right coverage.
I would NOT accept non-OEM glass. Especially if you're on a lease...dealer may ding you for that at lease end.

There is a lot of confusion about the terms related to windshields, as well as what insurance companies will provide or allow when a claim is made. The best windshield would be the one that has the auto brand insignia stenciled on the glass like the windshield that was originally installed in the vehicle...regardless whether it is referred to as OE, Dealer or OEM (With brand insignia logo)
► Original Equipment (OE) - The first windshield installed in a vehicle. Installed at the factory.
► Dealer - Parts supplied by an auto dealer. Installed to replace the OE part. Has insignia of the auto brand stenciled on the glass. i.e. Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, Volvo, Lexus, etc.
► Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) - With brand insignia logo - Company that manufactures OE windshields. These factories also make parts for the replacement aftermarket. These aftermarket parts are sold to the replacement market and installed at the retail level. Will have insignia logo of the auto brand stenciled on the glass.

My wife has a 2014 IS250 and we had the windshield replaced at the Lexus dealer. It was $1200 for parts and labor. We have Geico insurance which we found out only covers aftermarket windshield cost, which was about $760. Deductible was $500, so the insurance paid $260 toward the $1200.

Don't forget that our windshields also have wiper defroster elements at the bottom of the glass so you need to confirm that it includes that as well. Not all ES350s have it but GSs may. I am not sure. My current GS does. Also needs to be set up for Safety+ if you have that. That would be the camera at the top-center of the glass.
