Question Need opinion ASAP!! 2pc front rotors on F-Sport

Recently I went to Lexus because of clicking noise (during very slow turning, like during parking) coming from front end of the car. It ended up coming from 14.0-in ventilated rotors, pin-mounted to an aluminum hat.

This involves 2013-2016 RWD F-Sport models

To fix the clicking, they have replaced 2pc rotors with 1pc all steel flat rotor.

My question, should I go back to 14.0-in ventilated rotors, pin-mounted to an aluminum hat? even if there is a chance of the clicking noise? or should I stay with heavier 1pc rotors?

Are you familiar with the TSB for the clicking noise, and what Lexus recommends? Is that what Lexus did?

I'm familiar with that, i actually have am update version of this TSB. The thing was that Lexus changed out my 2pc aluminum rotors for 1pc steel rotors and did not notify me of what they were doing exactly. I just found out about this 3 weeks later

so now I have this....

Looks like they replaced your F-sport RWD exclusive 2-piece rotor with the regular rotor from other trims.

It sounds like the dealership made the change without the 'recommended' review of the differences with you.

I guess if you don't want the clicking noise that you originally complained about, plus brake pads that last a whole lot longer and give off less dust, you'd probably be best keeping what they installed. Unless you track the car there's no need for the OE brakes you had...and if you do track the car you probably want better brakes than the OE brakes that you originally had anyway.

Personally, one reason why I would not want the F-Sport is because the front brake pads and rotors wear so quickly and produce so much dust. In your case, with an F-Sport, in one regard I'd hate to give up the F-Sport brakes, but in another I'd like not having the difficulties the F-Sport brakes presents to owners. It would be a tough decision to make if I was given the choice...but in your case the change has already been done. If it were me - I'd probably accept the change as being a good thing and move on.

On the tsb said that the noise is normal but bc op complained so they changed to steel to get rid of the noise.

So basically your saying we can put regular GS rotors on FSports when it's time to replace them, as there are bunch of options available for them.

Guessing so but I thought the RWD GS f-Sport was different from the AWD meaning you can't switch the rotors to the flat disc if you can that would be pretty nice for some owners that wanted it with awd.

They replaced with 18in steal disc on RWD (part cost 225 online +tax and shipping). Awd has 2 pistons front brakes 13in disc. So the answer is no.

Can't possibly be 18in... How would it fit in 19inch wheels?

its not an 18 inch rotor...not sure how you got that from that link. Non-Fsport's have 13.1 inch front rotors, Fsports have 14 inch rotors. Both use the same size pads. In order for the dealer to do what they did, they replaced the caliper and carrier/mount to accept a smaller 13.1 inch rotor or put 14 inch steels in place of the 2-piece.

to OP's question....the 2-piece front rotors are rare in this price point and something that many people try to get in the aftermarket. I would ask them to put the 2-piece back. Buy some 14in, slotted steels and sell the 2-piece for far more than the cost of 2x 14in rotors.

I have this exact issue and after much thought, I'd rather keep the lightweight 2 piece rotors. I'll just have to deal with the occasional clicking
