Thanks, I'll push again at my next service visit otherwise I'll try a different dealer.

My 2013 AWD with 62,000 miles has also been making a whine noise for a while now. The difference with mine and what's in the tsb and from what others describe, is that it happens only when OFF throttle at or around 60-70mph. This occurs or is noticeable during highway driving when you are on and then off throttle to maintain cruising speed. This never occurs during acceleration. It sounds like it is coming from the engine area or at least the front of the car. Additionally I don't get any vibrations, only noise. If others could try this scenario and report back it would be helpful.
I owned a 2007 IS350 with this same engine and transmission and never noticed this.

Mine is only around 60mph and happens when I'm on the throttle or coasting. Delear had someone from Lexus corporate come down and look at my car and since they can't figure it out they pulled out the "this sound is withing spec" bs. I opened a case with Lexus corporate just to get the tech come look at it and that's what they left me with. My wife's RX has been trouble free since we got it and her previous one was trouble free for 100k miles. My GS has been back to the dealer so many times I'm now embarrassed to come home with a loaner car every time.

Yes. It is more like a whistle than a whine

I've had this issue in my 2014 GS 350.

tl;dr: Partially fixed per TSB. Bad dealership experience.

I did not notice the whining noise when I had a test drive before the purchase. On the way home, the same day after the purchase, I noticed the whining / whistling noise when accelerating around 40 mph.

About a month later, I went to the nearest dealership and told them that I could hear a whistling noise when accelerating between 35 - 50 mph. For some reason, the service advisor asked me why I came to them instead of the dealership where I bought the car. I don't know why it mattered. Maybe he was just curious. Then he gave me a soon to be retired mechanic to have a road test together. At first, the mechanic could not hear anything. But then he admitted he was able to hear the whining noise. He said I must have good ears. Then he said he would need to find a similar car so that he could check if it had a similar problem. The next day, the service advisor told me they could not reproduce the problem. So I picked up my car and left thinking it was probably a bad dealership. I also did not get a service record from them.

About a month later, I decided to go to the dealership in the town where I bought the car in NJ. After I explained the problem, I was given a mechanic to have a road test. I was afraid the mechanic would not be able to hear anything. But he confirmed that he could hear the whistling noise. He also said that it was definitely not normal and that they would fix it. However, a few days later, the service advisor called and told me that this was not an issue and that it was normal in GS 350. He also said they could not do anything about it. I was also given a service record that stated that this was normal in all GS 350.

This did not make any sense to me. The 2016 GS 350 loaner car that they gave me did not have this noise. So I contacted the service advisor asking him to clarify what the service record meant and if I could get any more information about it. He responded saying he would get back to me. But he never did. I waited a week and contacted their director. The director would not respond either. I waited another week and opened a case through the Lexus corporate site. The director finally responded and asked me to come. When I came on a scheduled day, the director was not available because he had a health emergency. So I had another road test with their other senior mechanic. He also confirmed he could hear the noise. But he could not tell what could be causing it. Then I was told that I would have to wait for their director to come back and go from there.

About a week later, the director came back and asked me to come again. At the dealership, he said that they would have to invite an FTS (Field Technical Specialist) to see my car. They made it seem as if this problem was very uncommon and extraordinary. Only an FTS could figure it out. A few days later, the director called and let me know that the problem has been fixed explaining what parts have been replaced. He said they found the TSB that was mentioned in this thread. I am not sure why they could not check the TSB records without the FTS guy.

So they finally replaced the transfer case rear mount and the engine rear mount cross member. However, although it became much better compared to how it was before, I cannot say that the problem is 100% fixed. I can still hear some whistling noise around 45 - 50 mph similar to the video that bclexus posted. I will mention it at the dealership service the next time I go there. But I will need to find a better dealership. And something tells me they won't be able to do anything about it.

I too have heard this whining noise on my '13 AWD now for about a year (owned the car for 2 years+ ). Its most prominent to me if the radio is off and i'm giving her gas. My personal mechanic told me that it is likely to gradually get worse over time and I should get it addressed under warranty if possible from Lexus especially if they are willing to fix it...

What dealership in NJ did you go to. I went to Celebrity Lexus on rt. 10 and Prestige Lexus on Rt. 17 and both said this sound is "within spec." I also opened a case with Lexus and they sent a field tech to Celebrity Lexus to check my car and he used a sound level meter and said the sound is normal and they refused to do anything further. I've had this problem since I bought my car 1.5 years ago and the sound hasn't gotten worse but still annoying.

I'd like to know also where fellow member gbalien had his car serviced (i'm also in the NY area).

I have an appointment with Lexus of Bridgewater, NJ to check out the problem on Friday morning (b/c i've had some issues with my local dealerships).

The fist dealership was in Brooklyn, NY. Then I went to Englewood, NJ.

My car is certified until May of next year and if this does fall under the powertrain warranty, i have until 2019 to get remediation. However, I had to postpone with them because of my work schedule. I have a service appointment for Aug 4th.

I'm planning to let my local mechanic listen to the noise first and give me his assessment...I'm a little hesitant to take it to Lexus but i've noticed the noise more and more lately (could be because i'm paying so extra attention to it).

Hi Guys! Hope everyone's doing well. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this because I recently purchased PIRELLI CINTURATO P7 ALL SEASON PLUS XL tires and was convinced I had poor tires but this is actually a known issue. Mine only occurs at 60mph also. My car is still under manuf warranty. Will the dealer honor it through the TSB even though that states 30-50mph? I appreciate all of your help in advance! Thanks.
