Question 2016 GS grill only on 2013 front end..Thinking of doing this...anyone done it yet?!!!

Newby here so sorry if this is in the wrong place on the forum...still trying to figure everything out lol. I'm thinking of figuring a way to fabricate the 2016 F Sport "grill only" onto the 2013 front bumper. Anyone done this yet? I searched throughout the forum and online and didn't see anyone who's attempted this yet so makes me want to do it even more haha. I did a quick Photoshop of what it would look like on my car (Pre-F Sport bumper conversion). My F Sport bumper is getting painted as we speak so I would do it a little after then of course but here is an idea of what it would look like using my current non F Sport bumper. I was pondering if it would be worth doing but after getting an idea of what it would look like, I may pull the trigger!
Quick Photoshop of how it would look...
Reminds me of the LF-Gh Concept!
I'm diggin it haha

I don't believe its as simple as just modifying the existing bumper you have. You will need to buy the newer bumper, grille assembly and new headlamps.

Member NXXT has the first pre-refresh GS with the '16 F-sport bumper and '16 headlights. He used the F-Sport bumper from the '16 but with the standard, horizontal non-mesh grille: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...verted-gs.html

Thanks, I'm sure it's not simple and modification is needed to the current bumper and 2016 GS grill or IS grill. I've seen NXXT's version and I'm not speaking of a full front end conversion. Although his looks absolutely great, it's way too much money for me to pull that off haha. I have an awesome body guy who is sure he can do it but we'll see if I decide to give it a shot. I may even try using an IS grill as it is not as wide and has a more similar shape.

Thats my fault - didn't read carefully enough to see your "grille only" mention in your post

Seems like a lot of custom work to the original pre-'16 bumper to get that shape for the grille itself - but if the price to try something like this reasonable from your bodyshop connect...why not right??!

Haha, no worries and yeah it seems to be a lot of work but I really wish the 4GS already came with the one piece spindle like the concept! My guy quoted a tentative quote (somewhat reasonable) and I will be helping him as well due to having some fabrication experience. Also considering some '16 tail lights like I've seen some on here but that will be in the not so near future.

Let me know how it goes. I'm doing this also but might go with the bumper route.

Wow! Good luck with the bumper refresh conversion...heard it's a lot of work and money. I'll definitely post updates on this whole venture.

I'm trying to figure out why you would want to do that. The grille on the 2013 looks so much better than the huge, butt-ugly shark-mouth grills on the later models. I don't know what kind of statement the designers were trying to make.

Appreciate your opinion and I agree that the refreshed bumpers and grills are a bit too huge, that's why I'm fabricating the grill to fit the opening to my car like the pic. This way it looks more similar to the LF-Gh concept grill. I like the one piece spindle look but just don't like how huge it is on the new GS so I'm going for the best of both worlds! Can't please everyone with a car but as long as I'm pleased with my own car then that's what matters haha.

Could be an interesting project. I love both the pre-refreshed version and the refreshed front end, so this sort of in-between could be pretty cool.

Thanks! I totally agree and it's also a bonus that I haven't seen anyone attempt this yet haha.
