Default K&N 69-8704TP Cold Air Intake 2014 Lexus GS350

Hey Guys, i recently bought a used 2014 Lexus GS350 from my local dealership. I'm interested in purchasing a cold air intake for the GS350. Any recommendations on which one to use. I have done research on the K&N 69-8704TP but please give me options. Thank you

Personally, I'd go with short ram intake as you do not have to careful about "Hydro-Locking" your car and It's cheaper haha. Take a look at these ones, many of GS owners use this including myself.

Short Air Intake

However if you still want Cold Air Intakes, you won't go wrong with these

Hey,

The most popular intakes we sell for this car is the HPS short ram intake.

Or the Takeda intake.

We have both in stock, available for local pick up. PM us for pricing!

Not sure if you're joking or serious about the water risk of a CAI on our cars. On the serious side, I haven't seen any low-mounted CAIs for our cars that would run any risk. Even then, the risk is a bit over-blown unless you prefer driving through low water crossings that you should bypass anyway, and prefer to remove all splash protection.

I went with the HPS and I dropped in K&N filter, its little bigger pipe and u dont loose ur noise creator that connects to the intake and you do feel the difference , but if you go with the open filter , you gonna have to keep that filter clean specially in CA. Here is how it looks like next to each other and on the car. Good luck buddy.

i dont know if its really worth changing the piping, looks almost identical. Most of your gain is probable from the filter portion right?

Also I wonder if dropping a KN&N filter and also making a hole in the air box in the lower portion like the is-f. I know i had this done in my is250 and generate a lot of noise on WOT.

The K&N intake is a bad choice. It will actually make the car quieter. It doesn't use the cone filter, but only attaches to the factory plastic air box. If you're looking for sound, as well as a better breathing filter, go with Takeda. I bought mine from Meraki (Josh)...couldn't be happier.

I bought Takeda intake and I used it for 9 months. The takeda filter has great sound which I agree with you. However, the takeda intake reduce the power of the car significantly, the car became heavy and before shifting (before redling) the car detonate several times (like cutoff or rev limiter). Anyway I sold it know.

That sounds like a MAF, throttle body, filter, or incorrect installation issue. The Takeda intake does not cause the symptoms you described if installed correctly.

I installed it by specialist and he follow the exact instructions. I approeached AFE team regarding this issueand they take a look to intake installation photo and they ask if there is check engine light or something. AFE R&D team replied to me that everything was ok in terms of installation and they say one thing that they thought about that the car take too much air especially before shifting “which cause itching or detonating” and they advise to replace the oil fliter with dry one plus prefilter cover. That solution solve the issue by 70%. However, by being very accurate guy “like me 😛” my car acceleration with the takeda is “7,6-6,9 seconds” while with the OEM it does the acceleration between “6,5-6,1 seconds”.

forgive my for my poor English 🙂
