Default GS300h Navigation

I don't think my original message has posted. Sorry if this is a duplicate.
A previous owner abandoned his/her update to the Navigation. I suspect
because it takes 2 hours.

Now I'm presented with a problem as the machine refuses to update without completing the previous update.
I've no idea what, where or when so I'm stuck.
Is it possible to restore the machine to default and stgart again with the update or can I remove the previous incomplete
update? The navigator works fine now except it doesn't understand my Yorkshire English!
Any help would be most appreciated.
This is the radio - right hand drive:

Thanks
Kingell

You could try unhooking the battery for 10 minutes to let the computer reset. It may not work but is worth a shot.

Probably want to turn off car and wait 20 mins for the computer to shutdown then unhook the battery.

You'll have to depower it. If you want exact instructions, do ask. I can help.

Thanks for the reply. I don't want to interfere with the ecu. Can I "depower" the radio/navigator only?

Why? I've not heard of a single issue with depowering ECUs in these cars. However the radios are very explodey.
You can depower the radio by pulling the correct fuse.

I would do so after turning the car off, wait a few minutes. When repowering, wait 5 minutes. Then push the start button twice without starting the car (very important). Wait 5 minutes. You'll see the radio reloading. My belief is that damage is done when starting the engine whilst the radio is booting.

Thanks for your kind reply and information. I notice there are two fuses for the radio/navigator. So my plan:
Don't start car - been sitting for a few hours now.
Remove two radio fuses.
Wait 5 minutes
Replace fuses
Start button twice - no brake pedal
Watch and hope?
Thanks again - I'll give it a try.

Just thought - does this radio have a code or is it already in a handshake with the ecu?

Be decisive when disconnecting and reconnecting power, don't be scarred by small arcing, make clean and smooth contact. It'll just work. It just takes a minute to start back up.

Hang on, how do your maps have an aborted update? The only way to update our pre facelift GPS is through a dealer's PC?

You can see on the picture above the message displayed. I haven't done anything to it except try to update with Lexus software
where I get the message (from memory) "Cannot update until previous data is completed". The navigator works (and the radio etc)
so I've no idea what someone previously has tried. I bought the car second hand from a Lexus main dealer.

I'm having difficulties getting these messages up so sorry if they're duplicated.
I bought this vihecle second hand from a main dealer.
I asked about a Navigator upgrade and was given an exorbitant price.
I'm a computer programmer and understand that the device can be upgraded via the
USB port.
When I try to do this I get a message (from memory) "Data can not be updated
untilthe previous data is completed". I've no idea what, where or when this is so
I want to have a "clean" boot of the navigator to get rid of the aborted update.
Many thanks for your advice.
I'm told I'll have to reset the windows and the driver's seat if I disconnect the battery.
Many thanks for your kind help.

I'm not surprised you're having issues, I'm assuming you have the HDD based nav as your screen looks like mine. The only way to update the maps is via a dealer pc, it authenticates on their server etc. It takes hours apparently why it costs so much more than the SD based update.

Even if you got your hands on the files they use, my understanding is that it still wouldn't work....it's locked down like being unable to change the HDD itself. As an IT guy you'd know about ATA passwords and rubbish like that.

Yup - I guess you're right. A friend has a Seat which updates free of charge via a TF card. My previous
Skoda had a cheap CD update.
I'm thinking of parting with Lexus cars because the charges are so extreme compared with many
other manufacturers (except perhaps BMW and Porsche).
The cars are great - the charges are beyond belief. My local garage service my wife's Suzuki for £180.
My recent Lexus routine service was £480 nearly 300% more and no extra parts apart from oil, filters etc.
Thanks again for your comments. I'll be selling this cash cow and buying a different make I reckon.

The facelifted GS is updated via sd card. If you really want vehicle based navigation (not sure why) get a GROM or whatever installed.

All premium make dealers charge excessively for servicing. I don't know why anyone goes there. There are lots of good indys about.
Leaving Lexus behind because their dealer's servicing costs are high doesn't make sense, they are not expensive vehicles to service.

Your local garage will service the Lexus not for much more.

Vote with your feet, service it locally! Apart from the expensive brakes and regular diff servicing, servicing costs are no greater than a Toyota Camry.
