Where is the high efficiency GS?
I was browsing through Youtube last night and stumble upon this European comparison of the E class, 5 Series, and the A6 which is equivalent to the GS class. I was shocked when I saw the MPG what these cars are getting. Over 50MPG!! I first thought that was a mistake or another standard unit mis-match. But this real.
Granted, it runs on Diesel and the engine is smaller but it still can produce respectable HP and 0-60 acceleration time.

"The 258hp E350d is arguably as quick as you need an executive saloon to be. It gets from 0-62mph in 5.9 seconds and is surprisingly frugal too, with a combined fuel economy figure of 54mpg"
FWIW, my '11 GS350 is averaging 23.8MPG and '15 GS is 23.2MPG.

European fuel economy is rated a little differently than US fuel economy ratings. The figures are much higher in Europe, but the cars seem to not hit anywhere near those figures. I think in the review he mentioned something like 55 mpg is what he achieved compared to the stated 72 mpg.
I'm sure Lexus is working on a new batch of engines, but don't expect a diesel. Yes the current range is reliable, but they are falling a little behind compared to the competition. Expect to see more hybrids.

EU fuel economy numbers are completely rigged.
They remove the door handles, tape the door openings, and then drive the car downhill to get some absurd MPG number. And apparently all of these are completely legal.

In Dubai the Lexus IS350 used to go 16 km on a liter, while my IS250 here goes 24 miles on a Gallon. Difference is significant I guess cars being less equipped and lighter chassis are made for other countries probably.

They also use the imperial gallon, which is 4.54 liters, not the US gallon, which is 3.78 liters. Automatically take 20% off of their MPG ratings to compare to here, or add 20% to your mpg.

UK MPG Figures are based on Imperial gallons so they're much higher at a glance. I think the UK combined MPG for my Jaguar XF 50 is something like 25mpg... On US Gallons the car struggles to get there on the highway.

Even with the 20% difference in gallon vs. imperial gallon, A 350 GS rated 25MPG on the highway would give 30MPG. A far cry from 55MPG(what the reviewer in the video got).

I get 20mpg mixed driving in Dallas every week. Take it to Austin or Houston some weekend and watch the numbers then. I get 26-29 all highway, and that's at 80+ mph.

I usually get around 17-18 in town, in my AWD. However, a few weeks ago I drove it down to Portland (200 miles) and was positively giddy to have achieved 26 for the first time.

I have it at ECO mode (tree hugging mode) as my friend likes to call it on the weekdays and sport S+ mode on the weekends
20 on the weekdays,
E on the weekends
No worries, costco still has the cheapest gas
