Are they too bright? If you had to do it all over again, would you use the same bulbs or look for an alternative?

I just installed them a few days ago and really like them. I don't think I need to worry about heat, since it only comes on when the circuit is energized...right. It's a turn signal, so it's on for 1-2 seconds at a time.

I think they might be a bit much. The turn signals are lighting up signs across the street. But at least everyone knows im turning or making a lane change. Including the space station

I used these in my 2010 ES, front and rear, for several years without any issues
I plan on putting them in my 2016 ES.
I prefer the look and they are brighter than the stock bulb.

Finally got to doing this simple mod. I've had the red overlays on the orange portions of my tail lights which made it slightly more difficult to see when signaling, but now with the LED its bright and obvious.

Isnt there a bulb out there that has a built in resister? how can this "extra" box be installed into a tail light assembly?

Check out the bulbs with the built in resistors. They are llllloooonnnnggggg and several people complain about still having hyperflash problems.

The box is not installed in the housing itself. If you look closely at the LED kit referenced in this thread, you'll see that there is several inches of wire between the LED bulb and the box. Install the bulb, then find a place to mount/wedge/zip-tie/glue the box nearby. If you open your trunk and locate the tail light bulb access covers, you'll see there is about a inch clearance between the tail light housing and the trunk liner. Many people just wedge the box between the two and Voilà!

so i brought some bulbs for mine and the dreaded hyper flash happened.

with the ijdm ones, did you guys have any problems with hyper flash? does the rear signals need load resistors too?

No hyper flash for the iJDM, but they have a decoder box for each that is easily hidden.

I installed the rear ones, very easy. However on my 2010 ES there was a panel in the inner fender that you could open to access the front turn signals but on the 2016 the owners manual shows that you have to undo the 3 fasteners and pull the inner fender liner back to access the turn signal. Kind of a pain. I will tackle this weekend.
