Hmm. I thought every channel had a crossover point?

Me too. I'm doing the install as we speak. So, I need to make a decision. Most folks have tapped the subwoofer lines. Thats what I am going to do too.

To me, it's just counter intuitive that Lexus would crossover the sub, but not the rears. Would't they want to protect both speakers? If anyone can provide evidence that the rears or others provide a fuller range of bass frequencies, I'd love to see it. I'll switch course if thats the case.

tap the subwoofer first and tap the front mid after and see which one sounds better. I use to get pm's about the GS stereo all the time as people seen what I have in my GS.

Cool. Have you tried tapping your rears? You should tap those as they might sound even better.

U do not want to tap to the rears. It's the weakest signal, try fading your speakers to the rears there's no mids. I tapped the fronts, rears and subs. I'm not running those little line coverts. I have a 10 ch dsp. Totally different setup.

Great that you have DSPs in your system. From my analysis, they aren't needed. We're just adding a sub here. Not replacing all of the speakers. We need full range of LFE frequencies. If the ML system's subwoofer line are anything like the base system. Then, we have all the frequencies we need.

Looks like they have a decently steep low pass slope (maybe 24db) starting at ~ 100hz. Very decent choice not allowing the sub to extend too far into the midrange. Also, I don't really see any "trickery" like a big bump at ~150hz to give an illusion of extra bass, perhaps the driver itself is already doing that.

This is what you guys should be tapping into for adding an aftermarket sub, not the rears. You wouldn't even have to adjust crossover points really, just set gains, and you'd be in a good place for most popular "tastes" of subwoofer-ness. I personally would have the sub start rolling off at 60-80hz, but most people like a bit of extra boom that can be had with this stock output.

I'm looking into the JL Fix 82 for summing. Still undecided on DSP. Let me know if you guys have any questions.

Now, if you've done an RTA analysis on the ML's subwoofer line. I'd love to see it. Until then, I think a 10-ch DSP is overkill. The only thing you'd possibly net is some 150Hz mid bass, that you probably wouldn't want to send to a sub anyway. I say let the OEM fronts handle that. They have no problem rattling everything up there on there own.

That is pretty good response for a stock sub output.

Default Gen3 GS450h Sub Install

As the title says, 08 GS450h with ML factory system.

I have my 2 - JL Audio 12W1-V2 speakers and my JL Audio Slash 500/1v2 Amp I'm FIIINALLY going to install.

My question is....
Has ANYONE come up with a definitive install solution? I see and have read about people going back and forth on the wire to tap, the issues, the use of an LOC, etc.
does anyone have a full proof tried and true install on this setup that they could share please?

Thank you

Sub installed, and bumpin. The JL shallow 10 can definitely deliver! Maybe even a bit too much. Definitely glad I have the remote ****.

Does anyone have a definitive procedure that has been tested and WORKS perfectly?
I've read a lot of people debating over which wires to connect and what line processors to use to get optimal performance from the factory ML system.

I have 2 JL 12W1v2 speakers and a JL 500/1v2 and ready to install.

I use to install back in 99-2002 but I worked for a large company that basically got me all the info I needed for cases like this as well as the vehicles weren't quite as technologically advanced.

Looking for 1 tried and true way to install this system.

What parts I need and what tips work.

Thank you!

Does this replace the factory sub in the rear deck? If so, do you also add an amp or is the replacement all you needed to do?
