Got a brand new GS and shipped it to another state using an enclosed carrier. Was hoping no damage would occur, but I found what seems to be a deep scratch on the bottom part of the bumper. How bad is the damage and what would need to happen to fix it. Would they just sand the area and repaint? I'm absolutely fuming

is that really a scratch? It looks like a scuff mark lol. I would try polishing it off by hand before doing anything else.

Looks like something was rubbing against it during shipment.

Looks like a tire or something black and rubbery rubbed up against your car; doesn't look like any paint was scratched off. Should be easily remedied with some polish.

Try Meguiars Scratch X first, unless the paint is gone then it needs to be repainted. I'm sure a shop could just paint that area and blend it in. They did that to my wheel and didn't repaint the whole wheel, I can't even tell the difference.

Is the mark that we see in the picture from something transferred 'onto' your paint's surface, or is the mark we see from the paint actually scrapped way and removed from the surface? There is a huge difference! If the mark is from something that was transferred onto your paint, then it (in all likelihood) can be easily removed and it's doubtful there will not be any damage to your paint.

Try wiping the mark with a degreaser like WD40 or PB Blaster to see if the mark will come off the paint.

It penetrated the paint and the paint was scrapped away. The area is rough and abrasive.

If you want it done right, the bumper comes off, and gets refinished...if you want it done half *** you can use touch up paint...

I had a similar mark on my bumper. Ten dollars worth of Lexus touch up paint took care of it. You cannot see the repair without a magnifying glass. I previously had the bumper repainted by the dealer, It cost about $900, and they never could get the color to match.

Sewell used to sell a new painted bumper for $900. If it cost $900 to repair, might as well buy a new one. But too bad they're gone now. Unless ur in TX.
