Windshield Crack - Replacement Glass: Pilkington or PGW? Trying to avoid Chinese glas
Hi Everyone
I need to replace my windshield on my new 2015 GS (got a rock chip and then cracked)
I am looking for a reputable installer in the So. Cal area but first of all, which brand windshield should I choose?
I called several guys off of Yelp. A couple of them said they would only use Pilkington or PGW claiming that they are both made in the USA. But I read on some of the forums that they are now made in China as well.
Bottom line is that I don't want to use some cheap chinese glass that is wavy and distorted.
Can anyone explain which brand glass to choose and any good So.Cal windshield installer?
Thanks in advance!

What's wrong with having a Lexus OEM windshield installed?

Where in So.Cal? If in OC, I can order the OEM glass for you if you want. I also have a guy that does third party installs for local dealers.
For the OEM glass: ~$503. Could be lower by a few dollars depending on the specific glass, but can't tell until I provide dealer with VIN.
It's funny... same thing happened to me when I got my car too.
Second day I owned my car, rock hit. Next morning, small crack enlarged to a big split.

Yep, OEM is the only way to go. The windshield is structural glass, meaning that it is supporting weight and integral to the stability of the cabin. Don't cheap out on it, only use what it leaves the factory with.
