Default Rotten Egg Smell?

Decided to take my 2013 GS to work today since I haven't been driving it as much after getting another commuter car. It was sitting in the garage for about 4 days.

Didn't quite go wide open throttle, but did push it a little this morning on the freeway and noticed a stank rotten egg/sulfur smell after I did that. Is this normal? Issue with the cat? or just because it was sitting for awhile?

Spoke with a former Lexus tech and he told me it's normal. Performance did not seem to be impacted.

Seems to be a characteristic of this engine. My is350 did it sometimes too if you gave it a bit when it was warming up. GS occasionally too - it's very infrequent and isn't horrible but when stopped at a light you may notice it on rare occasion.

There was another post here a few weeks ago about it. Probably has to do with the cats not fully heated up yet.

That is pretty normal on any car. I noticed it back on my Sonata, my mom's Highlander, and now on my GS. If you half *** WOT (slam on gas then let off rather abruptly) you will definitely notice it. It's just the cat working harder to deal with the sudden change in exhaust output. I would only worry if you got the smell under normal load or idling.

Did you by chance eat cauliflower recently?

Obviously, I am joking. This is normal. Sulfur is a component in your fuel. If you haven't driven your car for a few days chances are you will smell it under heavy acceleration for a bit.

Its probably the gasoline you're using. I've always found that BP gas makes that smell so I stopped using it and the smell went away.
