I tried to get the TSB done a long while back, but my car doesn't fall into the VIN range that qualifies.

I personally would hold onto the '13. Wait for the '16. My logic is, even if I don't like it, I'd still rather have something current than hanging onto what's not being made anymore. Unless it's being paid for in cash. That's a different story.

I looked at the '15 this morning; Lexus completely redesigned the trunk mechanism. It bears no resemblance to the bare metal, half finished set up in my car. No need for the power trunk, the problem is totally fixed. The '13 is a joke; I showed mine to my favorite sales guy and he actually laughed. Then I reminded him that he sold it to me. ;-)

For a variety of reasons, I'm going to trade for the '15. I don't much care for the 8 speed (although it's hard to tell much on a 10 minute test drive, it's certainly not an improvement), but I'll be able to get a few cool items I don't have on the '13 and financially it happens to make sense in my case. Thanks for all the input, folks!

My trunk has no half finished or bare metal setup. Can you post some pictures of yours?

The 2013 trunk is awful. Just put your head into the trunk and look up. You can see all the bars and joints to operate the trunk. There are no springs; that's probably why it feels so flimsy. I noticed how unfinished they look when loading large pieces of luggage into the trunk and it kept getting caught on it. The hinge arms also pinch into the trunk. Now, the 2015 have a cover over where the hinge are and there no more random bars on the roof of the trunk. When you look up, it's all carpet now and nothing to catch onto luggage(except light cover). I also think they put a light spring mechanism now since it stays open better and is easier to close.

No problems with my '13's trunk.
Covers over hinges.Carpet cover on interior of trunk lid.
Easy open and easy close.Doesn't come down on it's own.

There must have been an adjustment made in the trunk area sometime during 2013. My trunk looks just like Joe's, hinges are covered, they don't pinch into the trunk. Luggage never gets caught, and nothing looks unfinished at all to me. I've never put my head into the trunk and looked up (why would I?) but its never struck me as looking unfinished at all.

The bare metal and visible torsion bars are under the rear deck (shelf behind the rear seat). It's possible they made a change mid-year, so some '13s might have the new design.

Things can and do get snagged on the exposed metal parts.

It's pouring down rain here today but I will post some pictures of mine tomorrow.

I never looked up in that area.Never had the need for any reason.Trunk works fine.
I put a LED bulb in and never looked beyond the bulb fixture.

The power trunk option for '14's probably caused a different design.

That's what my 2013 looked like too. The arms do come down on luggage. Can you take a pic of the bottom of the parcel shelf/roof of trunk?
In the 2015, they squared off the trunk a bit and have a carpeted cover over where the arms go. This is a pic of my 2015 trunk:

No doubt that is a nicer design but I'm fine with the '13 design.
I've never had any issues.

My trunk was hard to close in early days but then was fine after awhile. I never had the TSB done but did have to drive around for a day or two with an open trunk. The trunk refused to latch. When it did, it would immediately unlatch when I went over a smallest bump. I had to use tape to hold it down but that beeping sound was terrible. They had to re-set the latch hardware when I brought it in. There's definitely something not right about the 13 trunk/trunk latch. But it's definitely fixable. As for the refresh in 16, I have a feeling that there's not gonna be any significant change to the current model. I saw a picture of a USB GS Premium posted in Car Chat under Geneva Show thread. It looks identical to the current model. It could be just for display purpose or we may not get a refresh this coming year.

They're not going to do a significant refresh for just the GS-F.

Default At last, the long awaited pics of the cheesy 2013 trunk mechanism!

Passenger side:

It looks like something is missing, doesn't it? Sadly, not the case.

You can't see any of this unless you kneel down and look up at the rear deck.
