>Sorry, but I NEVER had an issue with the trunk on my '13 GS F Sport.

The one on my car will not stay up if the car is parked on even a slight incline and will blow closed in a far-from-stiff breeze.

The parking lot at the Costco I use in South San Francisco is generally breezy. I've had the trunk fall HARD on to my head while loading my flat of green tea. I've never, ever seen this happen with another car, any car at any price level. Yet three Lexus dealers all agree "it's normal."

My trunk lid has no problem staying up. I've never had it close on its own...

It feels kind of light and flimsy. I had the trunk TSB done which helped some.

The only problem I have with my trunk is when it's wet. When I open it all the water gets in the trunk, I have to open it slowly then close it again and keep repeating that until there is almost no water on the trunk lid.

I know exactly what you mean. On my 2013, it blew down on me before too. The 2015 trunk mechanism is much better and less flimsy, even when you don't get power trunk. I wish it would pop open half way when you press the button.

TSB stands for Technical Service Bulletin. There was a TSB for the 2013 trunk for being too difficult to close. It shouldn't address the flimsiness though because they only replace the rubber stoppers along the edge.

Really! I have a dealer appointment for something else on Friday; I will check this out. Be great if it were just heavier springs or something else easily swapped in

>Worst case scenario you won't like the refresh and can score an even better deal on a 2015.

Good point. It's very likely I won't like the refresh as I really dislike the full spindle grill; I think the current car's styling is spot on. Chances are either my current car or a 2015 will be my last Lexus product until they either dump the spindle or figure out how to apply it in a way that doesn't remind me of a monster truck tire.
Yes I'm sure cause I closed the trunk and was amazed at how it felt and how it didn't swing up on me and how it closed with ease and without danger. Not sure what they changed but felt better to me

Right, it helped with the feel when closing the trunk.

I'm guessing the people who have the biggest issue with the trunk lid closing too easily are likely those with a spoiler on the trunk, e.g. F-Sport.

The extra weight of the spoiler (which is mounted out on the far edge opposite the trunk lid's mechanical hinge or pivot point) will increase the likelihood of the trunk lid self-closing because the spoiler's weight brings the 'tipping point' (ease of closing threshold) to nearly a neutral balancing point. And, if the open trunk lid is buffeted with even a light breeze or the car is parked on a slight incline with the front end higher, then the trunk lid will pivot from an open position toward a closing position very easily.

The fix would be to increase weight opposite the spoiler (near the hinge or pivot point), or decrease weight out where the spoiler is - neither being a reasonable option. While adding, changing or adjusting the trunk lid's springs or torsion bars may help, the closer these devices are physically to the hinge mechanism - the more demanding their chore becomes to strengthen and support the lid in the open position.

There was actually a different TSB for the trunk lid on the F Sport for that very reason.

This TSB appears to address only the trunk lid being 'Hard To Close', but maybe it also helps with keeping the trunk lid open too, but it does not mention it. Also, with the date of the TSB and the VIN numbers given, this TSB is for cars with an early Production Date prior to August 1, 2012.

Never really noticed any issues with my trunk being hard to close or stay open. Even when it was caked in snow this weekend. I'll have to check it out after work today.
