Default Replacing aluminum door and dash trim

Recently purchased a 2013 GS 350 with the cabaret, aluminum trim interior. While the car is in great shape the aluminum trim on the drivers door and passenger dash is dinged up. I suspecte the prior owner had a little lap dog that dinged it up with its claws. I called Lexus to have it replaced and they quoted me $800 for parts and labor. Any thoughts for how to get these replaced at a more affordable cost?

Maybe try eBay? You can put in a search and save it, anytime someone puts up an item for sale with "aluminum trim" or "aluminum trim lexus gs350" you'll get an email or phone notification.

Another option would be sewells ( with clublexus discount) then install yourself. $800 is an outrageous price.

Finally there's the junkyard :/

On a side note: to all drivers who think they look super cute with their lap dogs driving, with the dogs sticking their heads out the drivers window ....STOP. Besides looking like an absolute idiot it's also super dangerous. If you need to swerve out of the way it will be impossible without killing dog or killing yourself.

Hope this helps

Thanks for your feedback. Didn't realize that was an option on eBay. Will give it a try.

There was a TSB on easily dented aluminum trim. I printed it out and gave it to the dealer during a service. They replaced the dented trims for free. Here's a link below for the form:

Yes, try this. I also had the aluminum trim on both door panels replaced for free with this TSB.

Wow! This is great! Thanks for sharing. I'll give that a try and see if I can talk them into the dash also.

Bring a copy of the TSB to the dealer. They will replace it free. My dealer had no idea of the TSB until I showed them a copy. Got mine replaced free of charge.

I have to thank you again dchar. I was able to get the dealer to not only replace the door trim but also the dash trim even though it was not referenced in the TSB. Now I don't have to agonize over those dents or spend $800 for a fix. Thanks!

I'm glad it worked out to your advantage! That's a really nice service advisor to replace the dash trim too. Says a lot about Lexus service.

The dealer replaced the driver's door trim on my 2014 before I purchased it. It appears the previous owner let his shoulder belt fly when he/she exited the car. There must have been a hundred dings in it. The salesman said it was $300 for that one piece on the driver's door.

LOL at ''let it fly''. Some folks don't give a damn about trade in value i suppose. I haven't been able to figure out what the previous owner of mine was doing to the center console area.
