CPO vs new?
hey chaps.
me and my folks have been looking for an midsize sedan to replace her benz and have came to an conclusion of getting a 4th gs.
my question is, should i go for an CPO over a new one ? or an new one over CPO?
because with the cpo, Is almost 20k cheaper than an new one but it also has an 3 years/100k warranty. my question is, does the currenty factory warranty stays till it expires or that just gets completely gone and gets replaced with the cpo warranty?
and what's the price I be looking to pay for an CPO? I had seen some between $38k-$42k with around 20k miles. can I negotiate some more down to the mid $30's?
we are looking for an GS350 f sports CPO over the new one.
any benefits of getting it brand new over cpo?

Hi,
Well.. i just purchased an CPO 2013 GS350 F Sport 30K miles for $36,908.00 without tax and registration.
So, as for me. i prefer CPO because its about $20K less with 3 yrs warranty. Why not... ;-)
CPO warranty starting at the date you purchase and it the same coverage as the original warranty.
Good Luck....

I went for CPO on a 2013 GS350 F Sport as well. You cant beat the price difference versus a new one and the warranty gave me the piece of mind to make the decision without hesitation
And it still has that fresh leather smell

Both warranties are in effect. So, say your car is 3 years old with 20 thousand miles, you still have one year and mileage under the factory warranty and your CPO will run concurrent with that giving you an extra 2 years of coverage after the factory warranty plus up to 100 thousand total miles in that 3 year period.

Go for the CPO.
In my opinion, it's a no brainer. I went the CPO route when all of the local dealers refused to budge at all on the MSRP of an F-Sport GS (like seriously not even $500 off MSRP), and for a lease they all wanted like $750/month with a few k down. lol.
I went with a ultra low mileage CPO for about 17k less, to boot I was able to knock off a little bit more off the price because I figured out how long they had it on the lot and they wanted it gone.
From now on I'm pretty sure I will be buying CPO's

I went CPO last April on a '13 and saved a ton. Love the 0 deductible B/B 100K coverage!

I've never bought a used car in my life. Yes, I realize that I pissed away money I didn't have to, but that was my decision and nobody got hurt. But I can envision going the CPO route when I retire in just a few years, especially on a Lexus due to the high quality of the car. I'd shop cars like this on-line in the Florida market as well where a lot of wealthy people buy them (and apparently buy them at sticker ) and don't put many miles on them.

I'm not a used car guy. If I had only $40,000 to spend, I'd likely buy something new for $40,000 over a CPO GS. Thats just me, you can save a lot of money by buying CPO.
Just understand that you should be able to buy a new GS for 10% off with little effort. When looking at a CPO car pricewise just keep that in mind.

This is my take on new vs CPO. You want to save money CPO is the way to go. You like to trade in cars every 3 years or so, CPO or leasing is a good choice.
Me personally, I have never owned a used car but I like to keep my cars 10+ years. So that extra $20K I saved vested over 10+ years doesn't really mean much to me vs the new car feeling I get. Purely emotional but that is how I see it.
With that said, with all the leasing deals I am seeing, I may trade off my paid off 2013 GSF in about 3 more years and switch to a lease so I can always have a new car every few years. I really enjoy the feeling of a new car.

I went CPO because anytime I searched for a new one in NYC area for my combo it was impossible and if they did have it they tried to rape me. It took a lot of patience on my part but I fnever settled and eventually found my gem. I'm a proud owner of a 2013 F Sport Obsidian/Carbernet.

I do not personally know you so take this with a grain of salt. I feel like if you had to ask/ponder whether to buy CPO or new, you're probably conscious about spending money. So I'm gonna say go with CPO but make sure you do thorough research and inspection on the car. If you ask ME whether to go CPO or new, I'd go CPO any day of the week. I like saving money and I don't mind waiting for the right car.
If you don't care about saving $15-20k though, buying new might work out well for you..but if that was the case, you probably wouldn't be on here asking this question
EDIT: As for the price, I think you'll be looking at $38k at a minimum for an Fsport with 20k, probably closer to $40k. This might depend on your location but in my area, that's the price I've been seeing. There might be some that are even cheaper than $38k but you should be careful because they may be cheaper for one reason or another.

I have always bought CPO until I bought my 2013 GSH. Technically it was new. But I bought it in Feb 2014. I got it for 11k off the sticker. If it was not for that, I would have waited for a CPO...

If you're money conscious and don't mind driving a slightly used car, then CPO all the way.
Although, that means you cannot customize the car to however YOU may want it (i.e. no special orders) and if you want something specific/particular options, you may have to wait a while for a "perfect" vehicle to come along within the mileage you're comfortable with and at a price that is within your budget.
