GS in the SNOW (merged threads)
#17
My neighbor in my apartment complex doesn't have a garage, so he lets his GS450h sit in the snow, My 2013 Camry and my partner and I's 2013 Venza AWD sit in the garage while my partners 2013 ES350 sits in the weather, because he drives the Venza more than the ES anyways. The cars are made for the snow, it doesn't hurt them.

My F-Sport is a daily driver in the tri-state area. I had it in the snow on the 2nd day of ownership. It handles great and with the cold weather package it's a pleasure to drive in the snow. It's gone through 8 inches of fresh snow with out a problem. Let her live a little.

The problem is we have to walk in salt and snow just to go in and out of stores. I don't want that crap getting inside my Lexus.
Had a dry window (sky and ground) yesterday late and took the 4GS out for a spin. But expecting more snow today, maybe six inches, so back inside the garage goes my baby!

Just got home from driving in the falling snow. GS handled fine on the roads, but the windshield wipers are lousy. I miss my Volvo wipers. I think Volvo has the best wipers - no problems in cold snow or operation in rain at 100+ mph.

The day after the recent sleet/ice in Dallas, when we basically had a 1-2 inch slab of ice on all the driveways and side streets for a day or two, I had to give up and leave my RWD GS350 in the garage, and drive my other car (FWD) for the emergency errands. RWD on icy roads was just too crazy to consider (I guess I could have piled up some really heavy stuff in the trunk if there was no other option)

Not me. I'll keep mine garaged. Nothing is more fun on a snowy road than my 2008 RDX with Super Handling AWD and a turbo charger. It's snowing like crazy right now. I just took the RDX out for a spin to get some gas for my snow thrower. I was zooming past people with RWD and FWD.

Yep I have to drive my car at the moment as I'm looking for a truck or suv for winter. I also baby my car but I can say that OC 2.0 def works as the car was totally salted and after a nice wash it looked brand new again. I will do a before and after next weekend as we will have a lot of salt on the ground from this snow. I miss my RWD GS would have loved to go to an empty parking lot.

100 lbs in the trunk REALLY helps my AWD GS in the snow...
I have a 2013 AWD GS350 F-sport.
YES, I put winter tires on my car.
YES, I drive with the "snow" button pushed.
Even so, my AWD car does not do as well as my previous Subaru (which only had all-season tires). Our AWD GS's are still primarily RWD-based cars, with only partial traction to the front wheels.
So I decided to put 100 lbs in the trunk (I use kitty litter), like on my previous RWD BMW's...
It's much better now. Almost no slippage at all. BIG difference...

Full tank of gas helps too. Also, let some air out of the tires.
