Buying car with salvage title
they have this thing:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lexus-GS-F-Sport-Sedan-4-Door-2013-lexus-gs-350-f-sport-only-1-k-mi-navigation-mark-levinson-spoiler-/251591591086?forcerrptr=true&hash=item3a940704ae&item=251591591086&pt=US_Cars_Trucks
would you buy that or not? I have a 3gs myself bought it from a non lexus dealer with 38K miles on it and was 3 years old. I didn't check autocheck and it said frame damage reported at auction but carfax was perfect. I have put 130K miles on that car and only had 1 problem which was rear differential leak but I got the car at 1/2 MSRP just got the engine redone because of the defect etc.
I take the cars I get and drive them to the ground anyway until 200-300K miles on it. but how can you tell how much damage was done? the last 2 gs's I bought seem to have damage that was on ebay. I just don't want to go to a dealership and have them make $5K off of me. I don't mind them making like $1K or so but 5K is just too much.

Well the general consensus on here will be to steer clear from salvage titles. I have dealt with a few salvage title cars in the family and while they're a good deal cheaper, some end up being a real headache. It is really a hit or miss.

The passenger side of the hood looks a bit lifted from this pic.
The driver side is fine.
I would stay away from salvaged vehicles. I'm sure u can find a used 2013 with clean title close to that price.

thanks for the pics wherever you got those damage ones from, when you see what happened to you, you don't want to buy something that has been hit like that. all I saw was the fixed up part and not what it looked like when it was hit. every car I have got that I bought from a non dealer has pulled to the left or right which I hate but going to pass on that

FYI you cant get loans on a salvage car.
I would request photos before the accident and if no frame damage why not. Just so you know salvage cars on avg are valued 50% below real value

When you look at the pictures on ebay you'll notice that the majority show the driver's side, and VERY few give you a good view of the passenger. 11 show a view of the driver's side excluding pics with the door open. 6 show the passenger side, I would guess they are trying to hide something on the vehicle.

its hard to say. the hood isnt lined 100% but they used oem parts. it could use adjusting or the frame is still bent and wasnt pulled enough when it was put on the frame machine. air bags did deploy though..the price isnt too bad at all. you just have to look under the hood and take a good look at the repairs and drive it. it will never be like a new but 30k savings off new makes you think twice. take your time fly out look at the car and consider all the factors.
