Default Air Handling - Recirc vs Draw from outside

Recently the recirc / fresh air mode always resets to recirculation, even though I set it to fresh air each time. (no the air source mode is NOT Auto but the overall air handling mode is Auto). Anyone know how to set the mode to default to be fresh air (draw from outside) when restarting the car?

Can't you just leave the auto air handling mode off? That way it will only stay on outside if that's what you desire. Why don't you like the auto mode or recirculation?

Very very annoying and has been discussed in another thread in this forum. Default seems to be recirc and even when set to auto, it never goes to outside air circulation mode. Some say dealer setting but does not seem logical. Would love to hear a permanent solution to problem. I just manually now move to outside air shortly after starting the car.

So summer's here, and so are the victims of Lexus's new 75F+ recirc-locked AC systems. Not to worry, though - Lexus gets to pile up a few AC credits to trade against the REAL sacrifices U.S. CAFE standards require.

I'll be damned, so I am not crazy, it is a "Design Feature" that happens when the temp is 75+.

It's been 727 degrees the last two weeks. Whatever mode the car needs to cool down ASAP is fine by me. Me likey A/C.

No, it's a Compliance Feature. Google "CAFE AC credits" to see what your government has in mind for you in the coming years.

Thanks for clarifying. The most annoying feature of my GS is that I have to manually go to "Fresh Air", otherwise my A/C stays on "Recirc" the entire trip.

That's pretty hot. And I thought it was warm in Texas!

Well at least I now understand why when on auto there is no change from recirc to circ if outside temp is above 75F. Still annoying...
