Well if your right, i've probably broken that safety feature.

I hope you are wrong but if its broken just swap it with the passenger side, and have someone you dont like ride shotgun with you like your mother in law or that annoying co-worker. Lol

I was just doing a bit of spring cleaning inside the GS and decided to check this out on mine (Canadian model with Technology package, which has the 18-way power seats) and the headrest definitely doesn't move forwards. The sides do bend forward and that's it.

Someone should send an email to Lexus and see what they have to say. The point about the movement potentially being the whiplash protection is a good point...

But the head rest wings do move quite easily.
The headrest in the picture is NOT adjustable, whatever the model.
I took a bright light to look inside this headrest and there is nothing adjustable (horizontally). There are a couple strips tack welded to the main cylindrical posts (crash protection I'm guessing).

Now look at ItzFilyO's video and that's a different head rest. The question I have is why does he have that type of headrest in a 2014 luxury model?
Maybe the F-Sport luxury model came with them?

ItzFily's is an F Sport. It does not have the luxury headrest.

Wow I'm about to turn this baby in and am still learning new features. I have 13 luxury and did not know about the "wings". You can grab on them and bend. I attempted but could not move it horizontally as shown in the picture. I raise it up and can feel the holes for the rods. It looks like it's made a lot bigger than the rods to allow movement but I can not move it. I, however, can adjust the upper part of the seat with the button which in turn move the headrest back and forth. Not sure if this is what they mean.

Have you decided what you're going to get to replace your GS?

ItzFilyO, in your video of the headrest you mention Premium seats. Do you have the 18 way power seats in the F-Sport or what is considered Premium seats in the F-Sport?

BTW even though my headrest doesn't move forward and back, I did learn the sides of the headrest bends forward. Cradling the back of your head every so nicely!

Default Front headrest adjustment on Luxury Package

He has 16 way power seats. Same headrests as the premium.

That video was on my 14 Premium, same headrest as my 14 FSport, the one I have now.

The "whiplash protection" is what is called Active Head Restraints and is standard on all GS. There is a curved system in the seat that when pressed on, causes the head rests to move forward. If you press about 2/3 of the way down the seat you will see the headrest move. It's small, but major.

These wings make it even harder, Steve. I thought it was more for look design. It feels like laying on a pillow. How did I not know about this for the past three years?!
