Default Mpg 2014 gs highway mileage

Have our new GS for about 2 weeks and took her on our first road trip, expressway driving about 75 MPH. Cruise control, no stops and starts, about 180 miles. Our 06 GS would give us about 31 MPG, but the new one registered about 25.5 to 26 MPG. Just wondering if there is a break in period and if I can expect better mileage on the highway. Thanks all.

I am less than impressed with 14 GS's MPG. I didn't get it for efficiency but hoped that it would be better than V8 that I had. I average about 23 mpg, about 90-95% highway driving, mostly on cruise control at 65 mph. I was getting about 23-24 in my 5.5 V8 that was substantially more powerful and faster than this car. So I don't buy sports sedan excuse, I think it just needs one or more taller gear(s). Perhaps after break in, it will reach its advertised mpg.

That jives with my numbers on a 2013 as well. I'm surprised the extra 2 gears in the 2014 didn't improve things.

For what it's worth, i didn't notice an increase in MPG in my 2013 after the engine broke in; mileage has always been consistent.

Your mileage is consistent with what I am getting, maybe just a tad less, but we didn't buy our cars for stellar fuel economy now did we?

it takes a couple thousand miles to truly break in the engine for efficiency

I'm getting about 23 mpg on the highway. Pretty much similar to my ISF with a V8. The V8 in the ISF is amazing.

That seems a little low to me. I usually average 27-29 mpg with the cruise control set at 75. When I have the cruise control set to 60 I get 33 mpg.

I have experienced the published gas consumption but only once. So you need those rare conditions to all come together, a long stretch of highway with little or no traffic on it, traveling from a higher elevation to a lower elevation and mild temperatures. For me that was a 160+ km. stretch of highway where I not only did not have to brake, was slightly downhill and the late spring temperatures were about 17-18 C at a steady 120 kph. In fact, the folks of at Edmunds when doing a long term test of the car said that many of their staff achieved the 31 mph quoted.

Default same here

I drive about 180 miles round trip, daily.

I've racked up about 6k miles and I never get past 20 mpg.

That is until yesterday. I actually decided to do my full commute in S sport mode, and surprisingly hit 23 mpg.

But still, average is usually around 20 mpg and I am patiently waiting to hit the 28 mpg rating as they advertised on their website.

You must be doing a lot of stop and go to never get past 20 mpg. If you're at a steady pace and not getting over 20 mpg then there is something wrong with your car.

Honestly I am hardly doing any stop and go. I don't commute during rush hour and I drive into the suburbs so I am going at a steady pace for about 80% - 90% of my trip.

Am I the only one having this issue? I guess I will have to speak to Lexus about this situation.
