As long as the vehicle is stopped if you press and hold the TRAC button for at least 5 seconds the TRAC light will remain on and that signifies TRAC and VSC are off.

If the TRAC light stays on when traction control is off, then how do you know when it's back on?

When you turn TRAC back on the light turns off.

I did this 5 second thing. Launched the car full throttle and the traction light next to the traction contol off light flashed a few times (it also looks like traction control light but is a smaller square one.). Does that mean some type of traction control is still on? I thought 5 seconds is fully defeating the traction control and stability control.

I really wish that they would allow Sport + mode to have a more agressive traction control program. It sucks that you have to turn everything off to have some fun .

From what i recall, vsc turns back on over 30mph and turns itself off under 30mph when you turn it off.

when stopped press and hold TC button until a yellow image of a car appears with skid marks in the speedo (this is in addition to the message in the display between tach and speedo). When this displays your TC is off and does not turn back on over 30 mph (at least not on mine). It will not come back on until the TC button is pushed again.

I've found this isn't true, there is some kind of throttle retarding occurring when the car starts to slide, and then it gives you power back once the slide is over. I've had problems maintaining a power slide. I think there is something that remains on.

I've seen when it turns on when you hit 30 if you don't follow the 3 second rule while stopped, but something else inhibits the throttle response. I know other cars have removed the ability to fully turn off traction control and it looks like the GS is in the same boat.

I've experienced this but it doesn't always happen. A few weeks ago i was out with some friends and I wanted to show that the GS could hold its own against the Q50. I went to do a donut and instead of having the car slide it just kept understeering. Last Friday when I tried the same thing it threw itself without any effort.

The traction control is always off when you hit the button. However, i was talking about VSC ( vehicle stability control) which controls sliding. If you are doing a burnout, and the wheel speed is above 30mph, it will straighten you out. However, i cant test this as mine is AWD . The snow has melted so i cant get a video of it either. My tacoma has the same system.

I also have the AWD system. I had the symbol on that shows the VSC/Traction are both off. The flashing light came on during a full throttle acceleration. I was not paying attention to the speed at the time the light came on but it may have been right around 30mph or so. I was coming over a slight slope and the pavement was rough. There was no sliding or spinning of tires that I felt but the light did flash a few times.

Anyways I was just testing launching on the AWD to see how it performs with the lightweight rims and tires I put on it. Seems to me the GS does not allow all nannies to be off.

Regardless the car seems to pull hard after rpms get up but does not launch hard from a stop even with brake torquing at 2k rpms.
