Default Weird interior vibration noise at idle, goes away with HVAC off...

Just like the title says, I've developed this weird vibration noise when at idle in gear (such as sitting at a light), it seems to go away when the HVAC is turned off and comes back when its on, but seems unaffected by fan speed.

Any thoughts?

I have the same problem. But it is very sporadic and I'm unable to replicate it at the dealer.

is the vibration noise the same as the reported rattles on some 4GS, or is it completely different?

Recently, my 4GS also vibrates a bit.... Not rattles, but vibrates.

So my driver's seat vibrated with the car. But it's gone in a few second.
I can't replicate the incident again.

So I'm curious what the Lexus Dealer comment to that.

No, I don't have anything described in that thread. Mine is definitely linked to the HVAC system. When its shut off, the vibration noise goes away.

Just noticed my car doing this yesterday, it also goes away with the HVAC off and seems to be related to the fan as I don't notice it when its on low.

I'm planning on putting the car in next week for the 15k and to have this looked at, but I think I figured it out.

I think its the tray in the glove box. I have the owners manual sitting on top of it, and I believe its causing this vibration. I moved stuff around in there and pressed down on it real well and it seems to have gone away...I will try taking it out as well and if that has indeed solved the issue I will post back.

Just an update on this for anybody else having the issue.

As temps have come back up this has started happening again. Dealer looked at it and of course could not replicate it.

I was playing around with it the other day and I found that when I press hard with my knee against the padded bolster on the side of the console the vibration goes away. I also found that if I pull the bolster outwards away from the console, it will cause it to vibrate.

Investigating I removed the padded bolster, the vibration seems to be coming from the driver's side of the cupholder assembly. It doesn't seem to be the way the assembly is sitting in the console, it seems to be the assembly itself. Pressing down on the edge of the assembly stops the vibration. I put some padded shims in there and it has helped but its not 100% gone yet.

I'm going to pull the bolster off one more time and play around with additional shimming and then take it in if its not fixed...

hey, would the throttle body need cleaning? a clog up throttle body may caused unstable idling rpm.

No, the idle is fine. Its just this cupholder rattling when idling. It had gotten to where it was happening sometimes when driving too.
