A bad day, new wheels and tires needed is quieter an option?
It was a bad day! In the dark, pouring rain I hit a curb. Bad! Pretty much destroyed two Premium wheels and two tires. So, what are my options for replacing. Here is my dilemma:
My first Lexus was a used Classic Green Pearl/Ivory 1997 ES 300. I was a goner, Nothing was going to beat Lexus luxury, quiet interior, smooth ride.......JUST WOW!. By 2015 there was no clear coat left on the top or hood, seats were beginning to tear and it was over 175,000 miles. Time for an upgrade. I wanted an IS and had started looking in 2013. The Lexus dealership had a Meteor Blue GS. I said, "Now that is a beautiful color". And was, rather rudely, told "They don't make IS in fashion colors". No kidding, White, Black, Red and 50 shades of gray. Okay, maybe 7 shades of gray. If we could find one, I would settle on a 2014 Starfire Pearl/Black. After another year of looking........nothing. My husband researched and mentioned the much higher rated GS. It took hours to find my Meteor Blue/Light gray 2013 GS 350.
I love my GS,but, it is noisy. No normal conversation voices, radio volume nearly maxed out. I have heard it is a combination of the low profile tires and the sound of "sporty"noise piped back into the cabin.
So, now I have to purchase wheels and tires. For me, this is not an aesthetic or purist an issue, but a "quiet" issue. Please, try not to be mean, purists. Can you imagine how bad I feel tonight? Try! Can I change to a higher profile tire and wheel? Would that be quieter? Thanks for any suggestions.
The worst one. I feel sick.

I still have a MUCH quieter car with my "one size up tires"
The only thing is you have to do the front and rear together or the ABS system could
have errors due to reading different front to rear speed signals.

Thanks!
I have decided to go with a pair of refurbished Lexus wheels that match. It turns out that is the best price for wheels. As far tires, I was going to go with Les Schwab 18XL 98W Proxes All Season. I would be interested in your tire recommendation.
Thanks again!
