I have no problem using premium ..... what I don't understand is how the ES350 is rated for regular and the GS isn't. Same engine, right? Is it just the 8 speed vs 6 speed.

A pretty big one - 306 hp for the GS vs. 268 for the ES.

I know some people who lease that use 87/89 in a premium required vehicle.
If you own,go with premium.Lease use whatever grade you want.

Pardon me for not understanding - what is "direct injection" in the GS vs the ES? How would this affect fuel type? I m not a mechanic, so I am just trying to learn. Thanks so much.

The most I saved using the lowest grade (regular) gas compared to the premium was $5. If u can afford a car like a GS, you can afford $5 extra for premium gas.

I think numerous people, not all, on this GS forum have bought a vehicle that has probably maxed out their budget and are now worried about the cost of fuel, maintenance, etc. They should have purchased or leased something more affordable that they wouldn't have to question things like $3-$5 per tank gas savings.....

It's not just that. Some of the wealthiest people I know are the ones that nickel and dime over very little thing. They love saving money no matter what. They don't get rich by spending money you know. LOL

I have always used premium fuel as that's what Lexus recommends.
