Dual Pane Windows and tints

Not sure if I'm the only one with this problem.... Anyways, my tints are all scratched up, starting from the edge of the window to about an inch down :thumbdn: and I only had tints for 5 months, can't imagine how they would look after a year.

My guess is, the front windows are too thick. My 3GS did not have dual pane winows and this problem....

i had tints on my SP GS F Sport and didn't have that problem.

I have tint on my luxury, no issues.

Do you have the Cold Weather Package with the double-pane windows? Some guys have gotten the double-thick side windows installed to deal with excessive wind/road noise. I wonder if this would cause the tinting to get scratched up:sad:

Yeah, mine has cold weather package with dual pane windows. I think that is what causing the problem.

How often did you open / close your window? Reason I'm asking is, I do that everytime I need to get in or out of my parking lot.

I got tint on GS F-Sport and haven't had that problem, same double pane as you.

I do have dual pane. Are both fronts scratched?

The passenger side is less so, just a few small scratches. The driver's side on the other hand, is hard to look at. I don't usually open my passenger window, perhaps that's why it is less scratched.

Is there a chance you have debris in the seals along the bottom?

Now that I think about it, it could be the sand. I live very close to the ocean, maybe ~700ft away. When it's windy, the sand is flying everywhere. If that's the reason, then the only solution I see is to move elsewhere :D

No issues with tinted double pane windows here (yet?). Seems like the interior seals are dirty?

I had mine changed to dual pane windows, and had my guy come bk and retint them ,and its been a month and no issues, ur tint quality might be bad , just have ur tint guy redo it.

SNiiP3R 06-03-14 03:23 PM

Well, thanks to my dual pane windows my tints are pretty much done at this point :( I can't believe that I am the only one with this problem....
