Sorry about your car, but glad someone noticed it. As a note, I believe "hit and run" where I live requires someone to be in the car that was hit (or to hit a pedestrian/cyclist). Glad no-one was hurt and that you hopefully won't be out of pocket. Still sucks though.

When I looked at his drivers licence, I did the math and he is 89. He was driving a 2007 ES. Still so pissed about things. I am a very picky person and dont want a brand new car that has been repaired. Does anyone know of a REALLY REALLY good auto body shop in SoCal?

Also how much less is my car going to be worth now that it's been in an accident? The front dr. side fender will have to be replaced and the front bumper will have to be repainted.

Because of the minimal damage, I doubt it will decrease. If the car was salvage, then that's a different story. I took my car when I got hit in the freeway (entire bumper had to be replaced, and diffuser), to Lexus of Cerritos collision center and I swear try sis such a good job with the paint that you see no difference in color. I would honestly recommend them.

I'm in Thousand Oaks. They used to have a body shop at that dealer and did good work but they stopped doing body work there. Has anyone heard of LA car guy Lexus dealerships they say they are Lexus bodywork certified.

That sucks, and for it to happen right there at the dealer while you were talking to the service people is even worse.

Kudos to the guy who witnessed it, had the nerve to write down the plate number and report it. Most of the time you have witnesses, but people are so scared to get involved with anything that they just run away as well.

Even if the guy hadn't came back to deal with it, the police would have gone to his house and arrested him. Either way I think you were safe in not having to foot the bill.

Sorry about the damage though. People like that tick me off as well.

Still sucks because the car will never be the same. I don't care how good the shop is, you can always tell when a repair has been made and an area has to be be re sprayed. Not to mention it always seems the aftermarket paints are not as durable as the factory paint.

That really sucks.

Thats really not true anymore. If you have a really competent shop do the repair, you won't be able to tell what has been resprayed and what has not. If you can tell, it hasn't been done properly. I've had cars for many years that have had components properly resprayed and that paint has lasted just as well as the original paint. Hell...maybe the new paint will resist chipping better on the bumper than the original paint...which doesn't.

Really sucks, but it is a car out there in the world and its going to get run into by some yahoo at some point or another. I've never owned a car that hasn't been. Find a great shop, it'll be fine.

It would have been one thing if he had not realized he had hit the OP, but to realize it and still leave...

Agreed!!! That's what makes me even more mad. What a real jerk. The only thing that brings me some comfort is that I believe in karma.
