Talking ipod video to nav screen via usb input?

ok. jsut picked up my gs 350 fsport. having fun.. noticed that when i plug in my ipad to the usb port it recognizes it as an ipod. but.. here is the question.. it will play sound of music files no problem and but on the videos it only plays sound and give a message that device not video or something similar to that. does that mean that some devices can be inputed through the usb to play video?

Thanks

Was the vehicle in "Park" with the parking brake engaged?

This is a good question. I've searched the manuals, and there's nothing about video feeds from an ipod.

I've tried this as well, while in Park, and all I get is audio, no video. This would be real nice to have since I hardly have any DVD's anymore (Vudu or iTunes)

It would be cool to find a way to do this. Especially with an unlock module in place.

prestige makes after market to allow unit to operate while in drive mode for the passenger to watch dvd or enter information in nav which otherwise could not be done. what i am mentioning isthe use of the USB to input video on perhaps jump drives or by ipods or ipads, ect.

Have you asked Lexus? I agree it seems like something external must support video.

This is something i would love to see new cars start having is an option to play video through you device to your nav screen.

Just a thought but does anyone have a jailbroken ipad or iphone they could try? Because apple products block video out normaly but with a jailbroken app like resupport it can override the block and maybe play video on our nav screen?

This would give me a good reason to jailbreak if so.

Thats a really good question. I may jailbreak an old ipod touch to try it.
