Yea, I was soooo happy when I went into the owner's manual and found this.; It is so much better now. I can back up and not have to wait for the screens to go away.

Thanks although I believe you may not need the first two - my Contacts only sync when I manually refresh them and my car only loads in Call History when I go into the Call History screen.

EDIT, is this when you back up right when you turn the car on and it says portable player connected?

Yes - it first says (at least for me) Phone connected and then Portable Player Connected. This obscures the top 1" or so of the backup camera picture and this obscurement happens for about the first 20 seconds after you turn on your car which is pretty much the only time that you ever need the backup camera.

Mine don't so this must be user selectable, and I guess the same with Call History.
