Just realized today my GS has the 2011 version maps even though the 2012 maps came out at the beginning of October. Build date on mine was July, so it was obviously on the lot a while, hence it has the old maps. I would have thought they would update their new stock when the update came out. A used one I could understand, but not a new one.

Normally I wouldn't care, but we have a bunch of road changes here that did indeed come out on the 2012 maps, I know that because I had looked at updating the maps on my old ES.

What do you guys think my chances are of getting them to do a gratis update? I'm going to call the salesman tomorrow...

if i were you i would have them update the maps... free of charge. there is a thread on here about those maps. i'm almost sure you're fine, but if not take it back and have them update it. talk to the GM and SM first.

keep us posted because i'm sure there are more with outdated maps. As a matter of fact now that i'm thinking about it (it's late and my brain is slowing down) i asked the service manager and the general manager about those maps months ago (and their friends of mine) and was told that it is not a significant update so IMO you'd be wasting your time.. but if you want it, go for it. the techie also said it would be a waste of time. his first question was what year and car do i have and when i told him 2013 GS he gave me that look and said don't waste your time you're fine. so that's 3 non sigs on the update for the 2013 GS. you should still ask for piece of mind and let me know how it goes.

But in 2012 map update they must have add new street/highways that have been opened this year. I know here in MD they opened new toll highway earlier this year which i am assuming will be on the 2012 map update. so for me it might make sense for others might not.

Ask for the update. The worst thing that could happen is that they say "no".

My GS was build at the end of Sept and I have the 2012 maps on mine...however, some roads near my house that have been around for 2-3 yrs still don't exist!!!

Yeah I wouldn't care if it weren't for the ICC, the ICC is on the 2012 maps and not on the 2011 maps. I use it a good bit and its annoying not having it on there.

I'm actually on a plane on my way out of town for a week, I'm going to email my salesman and see what he says, I'll report back!

Yeah I don't understand either why a company with cutting edge manufacturing processes will not install the latest map software on cars that are built after the map version is ready.

My dealer told me that Lexus will ship the latest maps to dealerships in January 2013. The Lexus Navigation website corroborates this - it says "Please note that an update for vehicles with the GEN7 system will not be available until January 2013. Lexus apologizes for the delay. "

just read the lexuxnav pdf. and new york updates would not be significant... that's why they told me that i was ok on the maps. i don't know how significant it would be for other states. yeah... for piece of mind ask for the update.

Can someone share how to check what version i am running?

Push the "Menu" button, then select "Info/Apps", then "Map Data". The Map Information screen will show up, and the map version will be in it.
